Providing transparency to incentivise sustainable practices in agriculture
À propos
By 2050, the world needs to reach net-zero emissions. Today, agriculture is responsible for 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing these emissions is important and carbon investors are willing to pay farmers to do so. But this requires transparency. Transparency over the methods farmers are employing, transparency over the emissions they produce. CarbonFarm is using satellite data and artificial intelligence to provide this transparency.

I had a great time at the ClimateHack Summit in beautiful Lausanne last week!🇨🇭 I was thrilled to see rice decarbonization high on the agenda, a topic that often doesn’t get the attention it deserves 🍚🌍. Kudos to Emilie Dellecker, Laura Hodgkiss, and Sonalie Figueiras for highlighting this important issue! We had an insightful panel discussion featuring fantastic speakers with diverse approaches to the problem. Many thanks to Sonalie Figueiras for inviting me and moderating the discussion. It was great to exchange ideas with David C.Y. Chen from AgriG8, Steve Melhuish representing Rize, and our partner Erika Styger from Cornell University, with whom we launched the ClimateRice Initiative. 🌾 If we missed each other last week, please reach out, I'd love to connect. 🤝 I am already looking forward to next year's edition! #sustainability #ricedecarbonization #carbonmarkets #sustainableagriculture

📣 Great news for voluntary carbon markets! 🌿 The U.S. Government has just unveiled a new policy statement highlighting the need for high-quality carbon credits for effective climate action. 🌎 "If done right, Voluntary Carbon Markets can provide new revenue opportunities for farmers [...] and the rural communities they live in, all while driving needed investment in nature-based climate solutions across the agriculture and forestry sectors" said Agriculture Secretary Vilsack. CarbonFarm very much shares this vision of the market! We are working hard to facilitate access to carbon markets for rice-farmers 🌾, while using satellite-MRV to ensure generated credits are of the highest quality. 🛰 📃 See the full statement for more details: https://lnkd.in/eKAqPzgj #ClimateAction #VoluntaryCarbonMarkets #Sustainability #Agriculture #Forestry #ClimateChange #CarbonCredits #CarbonFarm
