Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Cannes on behalf of Dr. Martens plc and the honour of representing the brand at Cannes Lions, talking to the topic of ‘The Boot in Culture for 64 years and beyond’. Timeless design, durability, versatility & self-expression is part of the fabric of the brand. The 1460 boot for generations, has stood for so much, for so many within culture, across art, style & music etc. It holds an everlasting place and enduring emotive connection to people all over the world and this is what makes it ‘like no other’. For me personally, the fireside chat with Ali Hanan was humbling because it drew upon personal moments and the same emotional connection I have with both the products, our people, consumers and our collaborators. Thanks to Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, it was also extra special, as we were allowed to break the rules as only Docs would, and focus on creativity through the lens of our Iconic products. The positive energy in the audience towards the brand, was truly palpable!!! Do you remember your first pair ?
Fantastic Darren Leon Mckoy
It was brilliant and everyone I spoke to afterwards had nothing but praise! My first pair (and still my only pair) are faux leopard - as my standard uniform is black, they bring a bit of character. Love them.
Mobbed at the end 🔥
Killed it 🔋
Fab! Love it!!
Great to see you, bro! And great to see the trip was such a success! 🙌🏾
Quality! 🙌🏽
Looking sharp, Darren! 🤝🏻

1dMy first pair of Dr Martens was the iconic and legendary Dr. Martens 1460 Boots - I remember working overtime in Uniqlo to save up for them then when I started to advance in my career then I got some Sinclairs and started building my collection
