They stole it from BH. I’m glad you got it. Take a look at your plans and look at the people making the decisions because I’m on the committee to change that. This is a dangerous path and we have one shot to do this right now.

Yesterday, we gathered for the annual PA-CTE meeting, and it was truly extraordinary. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ent, our colleague and fellow board member, for graciously opening her family home to us. If only all meetings could be like this! I feel refreshed and ready for a great year ahead.
Exciting news! After a solid five years of digging deep, we've wrapped up our longitudinal study. Working with Katia Ciampa has been a real joy, and she's brought so much to the table. Since 2015, we've been on this journey together, figuring out how teachers can better reach students from all walks of life. It's been a journey of growth, both professionally and personally. The gratitude I feel for having such an exceptional research partner cannot be overstated. Katia's insights and unwavering dedication have significantly propelled the trajectory of our work. Congratulations, graduates! We acknowledge the sacrifices you've made to reach this milestone, and we celebrate your achievements. Your potential to make a positive impact with this knowledge is boundless.

This photo encapsulates the journey of motherhood over the decades. Balancing my professional career with my role as a mom hasn't been easy, but easy has never been my forte. Today marks a bittersweet moment, as it's my final day “watching” the tournament, with my youngest heading off to college in August.
During a conversation today, I realized not everyone understands the implications of the words they say, and thus cannot grasp the terror felt by Jewish friends and colleagues when they hear these chants.
Definitions are provided by the Anti-Defamation League:
"Globalize the Intifada"
The chant references two periods of violence against Israel – in the late 1980s and from 2000-2005 – during which terrorists committed indiscriminate acts of violence against Israelis. These included suicide bombings, shootings, and stabbings targeting people on city buses, in restaurants, or at nightclubs, resulting in over 1,000 deaths. This slogan is generally understood as a call for indiscriminate violence against Israel and against Jews and Jewish institutions worldwide. [Source: https://lnkd.in/eis6ew-8]
"From the River to the Sea Palestine Will be Free"
The chant is an antisemitic charge denying the Jewish right to self-determination, including the removal of Jews from Israel. Usage of this phrase understandably makes members of the Jewish and pro-Israel community feel unsafe and ostracized. It is important to note that demanding justice for Palestinians or calling for a Palestinian state should not mean, as this phrase posits, denying the right of the State of Israel to exist. "Israel is an Apartheid State"
Apartheid typically refers to the policy of racial segregation in pre-1990s South Africa. Within Israel, safeguards ensure the equal treatment of all citizens, Jewish or Arab, and democratic institutions uphold these rights. Israeli Arab citizens play prominent roles in society, representing over 20% of the population. While Israel’s policies can be criticized, they are not akin to a permanent and institutionalized system motivated and designed by racism. The accusation of apartheid serves to demonize the entire state rather than challenge specific policies. [Source: https://lnkd.in/e_A7FhNk]
These chants and accusations deepen divisions and perpetuate fear and hostility. Educating ourselves about antisemitic tropes is crucial for challenging misinformation and promoting accurate representations of Jewish history and identity. By countering stereotypes and myths with factual information, together we can contribute to dispelling harmful prejudices and fostering greater understanding and tolerance.

An insightful article by Mitch Albom (The Detroit Free Press 5/5/24), for those curious about what their Jewish friends and colleagues are currently experiencing.

An excerpt...
"Imagine, if you are Christian, that there is only one nation in the world where you are the majority (instead of more than 150). And nearly half the Christians on earth live there. Or if you are Muslim, and there is only one country where you are the majority — instead of nearly 50 — and half the world's Muslims live within its borders. If you are Black, imagine just one country where you are the dominant race, and half of the world's Black population shares the space. Same thing if you are Latino or Asian. Now imagine if college campuses across America were screaming for your country's elimination. Your one country. Your only country. And you watched those protests grow in size, in hate, in violence, and wondered why so few people were defending you? Then you can begin to sense how Jewish people felt these past few weeks.
