The title of this article is actually a little misleading, in my opinion, making the problem seem less significant that what the data actually shows... Couple things really jump out to me: 1) 1,750 hospitals audited, and 1,304 were told compliance action was needed. No, you did not misread that... 2) Couple big names specific to the Houston Market. (I'm not going to call them out, if you want to see they are easy to find in the article!) 3) Since Transparency in coverage act was passed it has faced "legal challenges from the hospital industry." It's almost like hospitals and carriers don't want people to be able to see or understand the costs for healthcare. Oh wait, the article references that too... "As long as hospitals and insurance companies hide their prices, they can charge whatever they want,...and they are." Still struggling to understand why your premium keeps climbing?
