In the past two weeks I’ve taken four mentorship calls with aspiring college founders. They have great ideas and tons of energy. Some are already gaining traction, and fast (the most important thing.) But… they get stuck on the basics: -Incorporating -Employment agreements -NDA’s -Payroll -Insurance Business schools should provide students with a simple checklist of all the basics needed to start any business. It could literally be a single 2 hour course, with resources. This would empower so many more students to get started.

I'm kind of surprised those aren't offered! When I transitioned to the startup world I attended the entrepreneurial college here, (Boise) those were the 1st topics we covered.

Come by our incubator showcase at LMU next week. https://cba.lmu.edu/rsvp/busincubshowcase/ we are trying with help from great attorneys and other friends of our program that advise the students. Would love your advice on how we can do better too!

That checklist idea is brilliant. Business schools should really get on that.

Chris, spot on. They teach theory but forget real-world mechanics. Ever notice how these missing basics could be the real "final exam" for future founders? Maybe we should start a course?

Couldn't agree more.
