It’s never a linear process, is it? Or at least not in the way you’d think. There are SO many highs and lows when it comes to our professional lives — even if you’re not on the entrepreneurial side of things. The ability to keep moving forward even when all I wanted to do was stay in bed forever and give up — while I’m not sure where it came from, it’s saved me. And I’ve totally had weeks where that is exactly what I did. I’ve cried from rejection and exhaustion. I’ve lost opportunities and been told no. If we are lucky enough to have something inside of us that is seeking something bigger and real and just… more, if we have a need to create some sort of impact or change — when you find that for yourself, it’s a gift. And you have to fight like hell to make it something true (and be able to pay your bills with it). I have fallen down more times than I would like to admit. But with being humbled comes lessons and also resilience. That resilience combined with keeping your head in as positive of a place as possible is exactly how you win. I’m sorry if that feels cringe! But the second you start letting negative thoughts about yourself, your competence, and what is possible for you take over, you’ll sabotage yourself. I’ve done it. It’s horrible. And then you have to start all over again. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, Conor Begley. I know a lot of people are beyond frustrated and scared right now, but vulnerability and transparency help. Please believe in whatever has been placed in your heart. Being able to love what you do is very much worth it. I'd like to share a personal testimonial. Mine wasn't a newly concocted plan but rather one nearly a decade in the making, which has proven to provide reliable & predictable income for multiple years prior. As you may have gathered from my LinkedIn profile, my involvement in real estate investing has been integral to this plan. Over the past decade, I strategically built a portfolio of single-family investment homes, engaging in both buy-and-hold & fix-and-flip projects. However, my approach to real estate may differ from what you commonly hear in your circles. The strategies I've employed for the past decade have empowered me to weather potential "WHAT IF" scenarios, and finally enabling me to walk away from corporate life fully to pursue my "WHY", which is helping others create financial freedom, which means to me - "A big part of financial freedom is having your heart & mind free from worry about the WHAT-IFS of life.", "Financial Freedom is having choices to do what you want with your time" & lastly helping other create generational wealth. Now back to the subject heading & picture below. Layoffs spiked among tech companies in 2023. Last year was not a good one for tech & neither was the one before that. Let’s face it — this year isn’t looking much better. In 2023, more than 1,190 tech companies laid off some 262,000 workers. But so far in 2024, over 34,000 employees have been laid off among more than 140 tech companies. Some of the big names this year include Snap, which owns SnapChat, Zoom, PayPal, Salesforce, Microsoft, eBay, TikTok, Wayfair, Google, Discord, Audible & Rent the Runway. I started my agencies from a spare bedroom. Today they’re both worth multi 7-figures. How I went from a broke kid to a multi-million £ entrepreneur: (Without any formal training or business school - you don't need it) 1/ Mistakes, a lot of mistakes. 2/ Failed my first few brands but kept experimenting. 3/ Eventually noticed gaps in the ecom space. 4/ Met my Co-founder and defined what set us apart from competitors. 5/ Took out a loan and invested in mentorship. 6/ Spent months doing cold outreach. 7/ Faced rejections for months before signing our first clients. 8/ They were paying us so little that we were still dead broke. 9/ Took on our first ‘employee’, we needed their expertise and commitment to our vision. 10/ The best thing we did was never give up even when we wanted to. 11/ Client results/ feedback started to spread and our reputation kept building. 12/ Eventually, we started scaling. 13/ We started stacking skills and expanding our services. 14/ We decided it was time to add to our team of 3. 15/ We prioritised hiring cultural fits (we want our team to grow with our business) 16/ And brought in people more skilled than us. 17/ Elevated the business by filling in knowledge gaps. 18/ For the first 4 years, not a single person voluntarily left. 19/ We experienced explosive growth, yet retained 95% of our clients last year. 20/ Today we’ve built our team to 60+ people and scaled 250+ brands. It’s not supposed to be easy. You’re supposed to fail a lot.

Layoff contagious has spread beyond tech: - 10,000 from Maersk - 1,800 from Charles Schwab - 2,400 from Farmers Insurance - 5,000 from CVS - 3,000 from Morgan Stanley - 2,000 from Gap - 6,000 from 3M I could go on...but this post is about the light, not the darkness. And as people are getting cast aside by their corporate masters like so much disposable garbage, they're picking themselves up and taking control of their own destinies...with the Creator Economy making it easier than ever! I would know...I'm one of them. But anecdotes are only so valuable, so here's some data: - Kajabi's total payout to Creators, in it's existence, was $5B in July. It hit $6B this October. Another $1 billion to Creators in 3 months. That's a RAPID acceleration in Creators making money. - TikTok is tracking to pay out $500M to Creators in 2023 from livestream tipping alone. - Stan hit $10M in ARR - that's thousands of new Creators making money by selling to fans. If you were laid off or you're worried about the future, I get it. I've been there (twice now). It's hard. It's painful. It seems hopeless. But there is hope. I've been there twice and I've picked myself back up and you will too. This second time, the Creator Economy was my life vest. It enabled me to reach my tribe, build credibility, find clients, and build my own business. Maybe one day, I'll work for a company again. Maybe. But right now, I don't have to. I'm doing great on my own. It's not for everyone...but maybe it's for you. Whether it's the Creator Economy or something else, in dark times...find your light. From: - $5/hour - Selling products in a parking lot - Being rejected by major companies To: - Generating $37million in revenue - Scaling multi 7-figure eCom brands with ads Here’s the story behind where I am today: 2013. I had a stable job in a big 4 for accounting. $200k/year I was making. But I felt uneasy. Routine in, routine out. Every. Single. Day. It felt unfulfilling. So guess what? I walked into my boss’s office. “I quit”. My passion wasn’t for accounting. Instead, I loved marketing and business. On that same day I quit… I started selling online in: - Facebook Groups - Ebay And a couple of weeks later. I launched my own eCom. It wasn’t easy. I hustled every day. Often, I would set up shop in a Walmart parking lot. Selling products from my car. I was making $5/hour. It wasn’t until 2016. 3 years of hard work paid off and I sold my first business for $180K. I hopped back into employment. Another high-paying job in Atlanta. Laid-off in 2020. Covid. I moved to Utah. Started another business. I worked with real estate investors. I built their marketing department from zero. Today? I’m still focused on eCom and marketing. $37M generated. I went through countless long nights. Countless early mornings. I invested my all into business. My love for learning kept me going. Remember. Honest hard work will ALWAYS be rewarded.

Yesterday, I announced I quit my 9-5. But I didn't do it for "freedom." And I'm not chasing some aspirational dream. Truth is, I was quite happy at Grizzle. I worked with the best team. Had an amazing boss. Controlled my time. And was able to aggressively pursue a side hustle. So why am I leaving? Because I can no longer ignore my potential. Yes, I was happy. But that voice inside my head, wondering what I could achieve if I put 100% effort into my own thing, wouldn't shut up. Over the past 2 years I've proven I can: -Sell amazing cohorts (~$50k earned) -Sell insanely valuable digital products (~$75k earned) -Make a huge impact on people's lives (100+ entrepreneurs helped) The key word there is "proven." I don't recommend quitting your job until you've proven you can earn alone. This shit is scary enough as is. So here's how I plan to help people now that I've got 100% of my attention in the game: -I'll coach and run cohorts for founders and entrepreneurs who are ready to build authentic personal platforms to grow pipeline and unlock new opportunities -I'll build more digital products for entrepreneurs and creators who want to improve their writing and editing skills -I'll help B2B SaaS teams with editorial training to ensure the content you're producing is high-quality and delivering results -I'll keep contracting for Grizzle whenever they need editorial help (like I said, I love my team there and plan to stay involved as long as they'll have me) If you fall into any of the above buckets, reach out! From 6-Figures, to making $0. I've put a reset on my income stream. I left a really interesting role to plan my journey again. . "What Got You Here, Won't Get You There". Everything that got me to the 6-figures won't get me to $400,000. So to get to $400,000/yr, I'm planning on building 4-5 things - publicly. 🚀 . . I'll be sharing the stats, the figures, the process, the results, whatever I can so you can do it too. On top of my head, here's the 5 projects: . 1. Get a 40-hours full-time job, instead of 60. :) Financial downgrade, perhaps, but I need the extra 20 hours to buid an awesome life. 2. Build my course on startup operations. I've been helping companies of a certain size, and they just keep making the same mistakes. I wanna help those guys do better. (this will go live at operations.school) 3. Create a brand, and LinkedIn to sell ops consulting at $250/hr. 4. Play tennis, 4 days a week. (not relevant I know - but helps get healthier) 5. Build a brick-and-mortar business. Literally. I might open up a school, maybe a McDonalds', maybe a car detailing business. I like meeting people and owning something hardcore - please sue me for that. Let's get started. Day 1 of.. 400? I think that's a good timeline to get there!!!

Millennials and Gen Z’ers have put corporate and its instability on the backburner and embracing entrepreneurship like never before. I’m not saying QUITTING…but realizing that if we can dedicate eight hours to a company owned by someone else, we can put that same energy into a passion project. And the easiest way to do that is in the Creator Economy. With mass layoffs (like the one I’m currently experiencing) occurring more frequently than ever, traditional benefits packages in an untraditional world, and a tough job market, the allure of being an employed entrepreneur is stronger than ever. Meanwhile, the life of being an influencer or UGC creator seems to offer flexibility, creative freedom, and the chance to turn passions into profits…without having to create a business plan, look for investors, find employees, and all of the other complicated things that usually come along with being your own boss. The Creator Economy has changed the way marketing looks and the way entrepreneurship feels.  So, to all my fellow professionals feeling the corporate blues, have you tried to find a hobby or dare I say, side hustle that makes you happy…while still clinging on to your 401K?
