Better integration between Medicare and Medicaid supports better outcomes for dually eligible individuals. Hear more on how ACAP D-SNPs are improving health: https://bit.ly/3Reixci #Medicare #Medicaid #DualEligible
Research in JAMA Health Forum underscores the benefits of better integration between Medicare and Medicaid for people who are dually eligible. People whose Medicare and Medicaid plans were more highly integrated reported higher levels of satisfaction with their health plans, were more likely to report being treated respectfully by customer service, were more likely to know how to obtain information related to their health and healthcare, and reported less out-of-pocket spending. These findings add to the growing body of knowledge on improving health for dually eligible individuals and are yet another reason I am proud to be working with the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) and Medicare-Medicaid Integration Alliance to advance policy solutions. ACAP CEO Meg Murray discussed maternal health and more with Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure last fall. Revisit the conversation from ACAP’s Coffee Break Podcast ☕: https://bit.ly/48S3hcd
It’s exciting to see the very strong commitment to maternal health of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure. CMS’s work has led to tangible changes for families nationwide. Forty-six states have expanded Medicaid coverage to 12 months postpartum so far, meaning thousands of people now have access to affordable coverage in the critical year after birth. ACAP member Banner Health Plans is leading the charge on addressing social determinants of health, including through an innovative program to help people find and maintain employment. Read more below 👇🏽
Two years ago, the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) launched the Center for SDOH Innovation to assist member health plans in addressing the intersection of health and social issues. Since its inception, the Center has seen numerous success stories, including from Banner Health Plans in Arizona. Banner offers job support to its enrollees, knowing that stable employment is key to helping people care for their health. They’ve connected hundreds of people to services, and 64% of participants placed in a job remain employed after 90 days. It’s been an honor to support ACAP’s member plans in this difficult but lifechanging work. I look forward to supporting and seeing their continued success and the positive effects they have on their enrollees and communities.
