Project Manager at Strategy & External Positioning, Sciensano; Coordinator CWG Animal Health & Welfare; Vice-President European One Health Association
It was a good approach to consult a wide range of #OneHealth professionals for this valuable project led by Istituto Superiore di Sanità. Our expertise from the One Health EJP, the #MedVetNetAssociation and Sciensano, the Belgian Institute of Health, which is a true #OneHealth organisation, was useful to bring to both the breakout sessions and the discussions. And conversely, the results of the discussions during the workshop could feed into the One Health activities planned under the recently launched #EUP_AHW partnership on #AnimalHealth and #AnimalWelfare. This is well said. Timeless truth since Alma Ata. Approaches may need to change but the goal remains. The idea of Primary Health care remains one of the most necessary and appropriate interventions that the private sector, civil society, and government should embrace. What is key is the need for the tripartite partners to leverage their comparative advantage to make the best out of the PHC menu. The government should derive satisfaction when communities are served, the private sector should gain returns on investment when they reach more people at marginal profits, civil society, like the government should celebrate community success stories, and above all, communities should enjoy the quality and affordable care they deserve. With all hands on the deck, this formula will take us closer as we inch towards the Last Mile to achieve Universal Health Coverage by 2030. It's a win-win situation.
VillageReach, we are pleased to share our new report, "Integrating Community Insights to Build Responsive Primary Health Care Systems," which provides a roadmap for routinely integrating community insights into the design and delivery of primary health care systems, at scale. There will be challenges ahead, but we invite you to join us in building a healthier future for Africa by downloading the report and sharing it with your networks. Together, we can create PHC systems that are responsive to the needs of all people. https://bit.ly/3Qv7Alq. #ResponsivePHC #HealthForAll #CITA #CommunityInsights #PHC #UHC

#healthsystems >> 📃 Private Provision of Health Services in Ukraine: Current challenges, future direction. ❓ This report by the WHO Regional Office for Europe assesses the current policy framework regarding private health service providers (PHSPs) in #Ukraine, focusing on regulations, contracting mechanisms, information and intelligence, and stakeholder engagement in relation to universal health coverage goals. 👉 It finds that the regulatory apparatus is comprehensive, but enforcement is limited. PHSPs need to be held accountable for the safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of the care they provide. ⚕️ Except for primary health care, the take-up of contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine under the Programme of Medical Guarantees (PMG) has been limited by insufficient funding to cover PHSPs’ costs. New contractual modalities and adjusting payment structures may support the role of PHSPs in the health sector’s recovery and reconstruction efforts. Reforms should focus on integrating all PHSPs into national health information systems and establishing platforms for policy dialogue. 👉 Overall, with strong regulations and contracts, fully inclusive health information systems, and open, transparent, and purposeful dialogue, the PHSP sector can continue to grow without detriment to the Government’s key health policy goals. #healthcare #accesstocare #primaryhealthcare #russianinvasion

Fostering radical collaboration to solve complex problems. Won't stop until there's #HealthforAll. | CEO @ Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC) & Asst. Prof @ Mount Sinai Med
💡 A landmark moment for the ProCHW movement: 📜 𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟴 - Declaration of Alma-Ata. In '78, Alma-Ata hosted a game-changer: the International Conference on Primary Health Care. 🎯 130 countries, 65 orgs, 1 goal: healthcare for all by 2000. No more single-disease campaigns; the NEW vision articulated for the first time at Alma-Ata was to build robust primary health systems 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦. 🛑 But hurdles soon emerged: • 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝘀? Alma-Ata included only a single paragraph on finances. • 𝟴𝟬𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀: LMICs hit; foreign aid dried up. • 𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮: *selective* primary healthcare soon gained favour. Rather than PHC for all - some health services, for some. How did we turn the corner? More next time! == Follow along for more #proCHWLandmarks! #HealthcareHeroes #CHW #CommunityHealth

1moExciting! The CEO Dr. Buddy really spoke on this very well by stating categorically the host Country's health priorities needed to be looked into and strike the balance with the NGO areas of support so that the Partner in question will not violate the Organisation areas of interest and supports both Technically and Financially as the case may be. I sincerely Salute the CEO's brilliant and technical approach to the issue. Emmanuel Jimoh Dare -Analyst "Open to work"
