The City of Bremerton is seeking to establish an eligible register for the position of Entry Level Firefighter/EMT. Once established, this register is valid for one (1) year and future vacancies for this position will be filled using this register. Under direction of a unit supervisor, this position responds to emergency fire and medical calls; uses specialized equipment and tools to save lives; protect property, suppress and extinguish fires and performs emergency first aid and rescue operations; maintains continual availability and readiness of facilities, apparatus, equipment, and supplies; performs non-emergency services including inspections, investigations, equipment testing, record-keeping and other standard fire station routines; maintains and upgrades personal skills and knowledge through internal and external instruction and training programs. The 2024 hiring range for this position is $6,255.70 - $10,616.84 monthly.  Salary rates include non-shift rates, longevity, 2% premium for ladder truck and boat operator, and 4% premium for equipment maintenance /SCBA responsibilities which employees are not eligible to receive until a date specified by the collective bargaining agreement or assigned by the Fire Chief. Benefits and Additional Compensation: Employer contributions to the State Retirement System pension plan; 105 hours to 408 hours of paid vacation per year dependent upon years of service and shift assignment; in lieu of holidays shift employees shall receive 4 hours added to their vacation accrual per pay period; non--shift employees shall receive 8 hours of time off with pay for each City observed holiday and for one (1) floating holiday per year; non-shift employees receive 96 hours of paid sick leave per year; shift employees with less than five (5) years of employment with the City will accrue 240 hours of sick leave per year; employees that have over five (5) years of employment with the City will accrue 192 hours of sick leave per year; wellness program, employee assistance program; Medical and dental coverage; employer contributions to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA); employer contributes $50 per month toward life insurance, long-term disability, and short-term insurance premium costs; employer deferred compensation match in an amount not to exceed 5.50% of salary.  The City of Bremerton is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse workforce.
