Last year I stepped out of my comfort zone and signed on to become a facilitator for the National MS Society's consultative sales training program. My second cohort kicked off today and includes colleagues from Peer-to-Peer fundraising campaigns, Advocacy, Event Production, and Volunteer Engagement. I am grateful for this opportunity to coach staff on best practices for developing truly transformational relationships and learn new things in the process! #missionaccomplished for my Marine Corps Marathon experience! The high humidity and heat made the day drag on a lot longer then I had hoped but I still crossed the line to help the National MS Society #finishms. I also accomplished my goal of one more marathon and remembered just how hard they are!

Ten years ago I ran the Marine Corps Marathon for charity. This weekend I will do it again, but for my own organization, the National MS Society through our #FinishMS program. While 26.2 miles is daunting, the challenge is nothing compared to what those living with multiple sclerosis deal with each day. One of the many things I love about the National MS Society is the passion our employees have for our mission. Whether it’s though joining Team In Motion for Bike MS or creating a DIY event, we show up and raise money for the cause. In five weeks, I will be participating in #FinishMS at the Marine Corps Marathon back “home” in DC. It’s been ten years since I last did MCM and I can feel the years and the miles with every step. This week I am co-leading my first "Developing Transformational Relationships' training with my friends and colleagues Shannon Greene and Lindsey Brannigan. Together we are helping National MS Society staff learn new relationship-building skills and elements of consultative sales that can be applied to our work in development, marketing, event production, and community leadership.
