Mayor at City of Chicago

We are making Chicago the most pro-worker city in the country. Starting next week, the City’s minimum wage rises to $16.20/hour, and the One Fair Wage Ordinance and the Paid Time Off Ordinance go into effect. This is the result of a movement made up of workers, labor unions, community organizations and advocates who want to see workers respected, protected, and empowered. These protections will ensure that workers can balance their lives and their livelihoods, creating stability for them and their families.

The greatest transformation of a city begins with the inclusion of society in its planning and projects. What the City of Chicago is experiencing is the beginning of a significant social and economic change, which will produce results in the medium and long term. With this entire set of important actions and measures, I understand that some considerations should be highlighted as a warning: Many American cities had their glory days and today are experiencing gigantic economic and social failure, for this reason, considering some steps is important as : - Do not develop projects thinking about today; - Do not create expectations before knowing the results; - Work on people's weaknesses and strengths; - Planning and strategies must be the basis of the project; - Know the macro needs of your city; - Invest in projects with a local vocation; It is - Don't be afraid to invest in people.

More lies, my employer just took 1 week of PTO and "converted" is to Sick Leave and said there's nothing I can do about it. How is that legal?

Chicago can take pride in its vibrant restaurant scene now that all employees have the basic respect of minimum base wages. Owners who reap the benefits of this highly skilled labor pool should compensate the professionals who allow their businesses to operate and thrive.

EVERYONE in the entire Chicago area will benefit from a robust and thriving working class. I don’t know about anybody else, but this kind of politics is my favorite kind. Keep the progress coming! 😁
