Toys R Us is partnering with OpenAI in a brand film that utilizes Sora -- one of the first brand films of its kind. "Sora, which is currently only available to alpha testers, can generate up to one-minute-long videos based on text prompts." Being made in just a few weeks, the goal of the film (which was shown at Cannes Lions) was to display how much Sora can speed up the production time for marketers. The film details the origins of the company, supporting its relaunch campaign. By showing their interest and capability in advancing technology like generative AI, the company is not only securing smart partnerships but also showing audiences they're future-savvy and ready for the next chapter. #Sora #ToysRUs #CreativeBranding #BrandingPartnerships #GenAI

Toys R Us rolls out first ad made with SORA AI, an OpenAI tool not-yet-released. Strong reactions trickling in, ranging from praise to concern. This ad is far from a one-click process. A 20 person team of talented designers, art directors, and animators collaborated on the project, generating each frame with paragraphs-worth of detailed instructions and sometimes requiring hundreds of revisions. Not a job for just anyone—AI demands creative prompt mastery driven by skilled professionals. IMO, Toys "R" Us is showing a lot of bravery as an early adopter. Others will follow. Have you seen this latest ad from Toys R Us? It was created almost entirely using OpenAI’s Sora tool. Some people praise them for their innovation, while others criticize them for their quality and execution. What do you think? I'm sure using AI reduced the cost to create the ad. That said, it sounds like it still required a lot of human intervention. I think AI is an amazing tool to aid in brainstorming and visualizing ideas. And in some instances, I think AI is capable of creating basic, fairly straightforward content. But I believe true breakthrough creative that really engages your target audience will always require humans. That's why I've always partnered with the best creatives throughout my career as they are invaluable! #Marketing #AI #Innovation #Creativity #ToysRUs #toys #advertising #chatGPT #Sora #OpenAI

I guess everyone has grown up...there's no more Toys "R" Us kids. The toy brand is the first to leave the AI toy train station with a video ad created almost entirely by generative AI. Groundbreaking as it is, the ad marks a significant shift for the marketing landscape. Even Geoffrey the Giraffe became obsolete. The notion that we're using generative AI to more or less create and produce a video ad is astonishing. The final product itself isn't perfect, but that really isn't the point. For Toys "R" Us and eventually other brands, what matters and will matter even more is that the development of this ad required less budget, time and manpower than it would have without AI. Progress brings change and worry. For the marketing and ad industry, the use of AI is nothing new. Creative tools and applications have long been used in the production of all forms of advertising. What is new in the case of Toys "R" Us is how this was done. Typically, ad agencies bill by the hour and number of people on the project. That doesn't seem to apply in this new era of AI-generated ads. If anything, we're looking at a potentially disruptive approach that will fundamentally change the agency model. Surprised, but not so surprised. Last year's Hollywood writer strike actually touched on the potential impact of AI-generated content. The concern is that studio head honchos will turn to AI to not only develop scripts and story lines, but generate voices and visual likenesses of actors for movies and TV shows. And, while contact talks resulted in some protections, the sad reality is writers are simply pushing off the inevitable. Like it or not, the marketing and ad industry is now the virtual canary in the coal mine, knowing full well it's not a huge leap to go from short-form video to long-form productions https://lnkd.in/gdchPz38 #toysrus #openai #artificialintelligence #generativeai #marketing #advertising #brand #creative #contentcreation

Toys ‘R’ Us Makes History with AI-Generated Ad In February, OpenAI – the company behind the viral ChatGPT chatbot – introduced the AI model Sora which it claimed can create realistic and imaginative videos from quick text prompts. It said the tool is capable of generating videos up to 60 seconds and can serve up scenes with multiple characters, specific types of motion and detailed background details. Kim Miller, CMO of Toys “R” Us Creative studios, told CNN the concept was born after she attended a brand storytelling group and told the host she wanted to do something “fun” and “different” for their next project, which involved the origin story of the founder. OpenAI has not yet announced an official release date for Sora but rumors indicate it could launch later this summer. The Robren Show (AI University Series): Expert AI Advice You Can Trust.
