It has been only 50 years since the Equal Credit Act was passed in 1974, giving women the right to get a credit card in their own name. Fast forward to 2024, and I am blown away at the incredible progress that we have made in such a short amount of time. The leaders of change for women's rights all have one thing in common, an unwavering commitment to empowering women. As we celebrate International Women's Day today and continue through Women's History Month, I encourage you all to take on that spirit of empowerment by acknowledging and celebrating the women in your world, as well as seeking ways to contribute to the work that still needs to be done. We are so fortunate to be part of Verizon, a company that has long championed gender equality and that has built policies and programs that reinforce a more equitable workplace. We all have an opportunity to take advantage of these resources and embrace this year's Women’s History Month theme —“Be Inspired, Be Ignited, Be Included.” Lastly, a special note to the women on my Consumer Finance team — may you continue to rise and challenge the barriers that hold many women back from achieving their full potential. I see you. I believe in you. I am incredibly proud of you! #internationalwomensday
