🌍 Why Foundations Should Embrace AI Skilling not just smart boards and tick in the box skilling! 🌍 I strongly believe that foundations / non profit orghanizations are a force of change and specially with many of them supported by large organisations and donors who not only provide capital but also ecosystem access and expertise. But I feel they are falling short. Traditionally, most of the projects run by foundations focus on Education and Healthcare. If we look into Education / Skilling - most of it is in smart boards, hardware and basic IT education / templated K12 content which is good for photo ops and annual reports in terms of classrooms reached but creates limited impact and real world employability. I am proud to have the opportunity of working with forward thinking foundations like Navjyoti India Foundation Kiran Bedi Neetu Sharma wherein we have trained thousands of underserved community kids on real life AI skills and programs making impact in their lives. I am happy to share my learnings with others to help them accelerate their journey! Artificial Intelligence is transforming the world, and it’s time for non profits to harness its power for social good. I had a wonderful session today with Paul Atherton of Fab Inc AI-for-Education.org regarding DAWN AI STUDY (VentureHue S24) and it was mind blowing. Africa’s education system is the worst performing globally, yet African EdTech ventures attract less than 2% of total venture financing in the region, compared to 8-12% in India. Despite Africa’s growing and youthful population, and the continent's increasing working-age population, selling EdTech in Africa remains challenging. Key note take away, from the recent report on EDtech solutions, it is here to stay, more investment should go in to EDtech, how best do we prepare for the future of work if not by making quality education truly inclusive and accessible by everyone. #edtech #futureofwork #ai #AIinedtech #dawnaistudy #victorogunbiyi #tech #education #learning

Unlocking Africa's Potential with AI in Education The perception that Africa lags behind in adopting new technologies and innovations is spot on. But maybe the issue isn't just Africa; perhaps it's our education system in individual countries. A few months ago, I had the privilege of teaching computer basics to urban public primary school teachers. What amazed me was that nearly all of them owned smartphones, with 90% being women. Yet, during our sessions, it became evident that they barely scratched the surface of their pocket-sized computers' capabilities. It made me ponder: How can we drive a digital economy when our people don't know how to unleash the power of a smartphone? What will become of the Google generation they're teaching? The issue isn't them; it's the system we've all gone through. Our schools often prioritize rote memorization over real learning, stifling creativity, and adaptability. To thrive in this digital era and leverage AI's potential, we need to reframe education. Imagine AI not just as a tool for replacing jobs but as a catalyst for creating new, more meaningful roles. Consider what AI could do in the healthcare sector. Now, let's advocate for AI integration in our education systems across Africa. I asked those teachers what one thing that could be automated to enhance their work and lives. Over 98.5% said paperwork before and after class – a task AI can seamlessly handle. If we implement this change, we free up approximately 70% of teachers' time, potentially revolutionizing our education system. Remember, a happy teacher is a great teacher. Introducing The AI Forward Alliance with Technovation: The AI Forward Alliance (or "TAIFA") to equip millions of girls and young women worldwide with cutting-edge tech and AI skills. Become a Mentor to support this initiative to empower 25 million girls and young women through AI, coding, and entrepreneurship educational programming with Technovation. TAIFA’s network and community partners include UNICEF and Grameen Foundation India, both of which will extend the initiative’s global reach, powering the Alliance towards its long-term goal of seeing six million young women enter the technology workforce by 2030. Girl Geek X Community and the App Inventor Foundation will expand access to mentors, and develop enhanced training materials for educators, respectively. Google and The Patrick J. Putting Generative AI to Better Purpose: Boosting Equality in Society, Making Top Education Available to All, and Removing Elitism and Financial Exploitation Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a potent technological advancement with the capability to revolutionize various sectors of society. This thesis posits that by harnessing generative AI, we can significantly address and ameliorate issues of educational inequity, financial discrimination, and societal elitism. Currently, top-tier educational resources are disproportionately accessible, wealth accumulation is unevenly distributed, and societal contributions are undervalued based on socio-economic backgrounds.
