We all have dreams for ourselves and our families, but we don’t all have the same opportunities to make those dreams come true. The convergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the racial reckoning of 2020 made that clear. For too long, powerful people who make laws and policies have also reinforced inequitable social practices based on race and class. But people intentionally built our current laws and social practices, and together, we can reinvent them. To work towards that vision, we’ve established three ambitious goals we believe we can achieve in our lifetime. * Economic Inclusion for Family Wellbeing: We believe a nation is possible where families have affordable, quality childcare, and where no one must choose between paying for meals or paying their bills. * Equitable and Accountable Public Health and Healthcare Systems: We deserve a healthcare system that provides respectful, high-quality care for everyone and a Public Health system that works together with communities to dismantle structural racism as a root cause of health disparities in America. * Healthy and Equitable Community Conditions: We envision flourishing communities where everyone has access to clean, safe drinking water and safe, stable housing; where jobs pay a living wage; where we have torn down the walls of segregation, and all residents are seen as deserving of respect and dignity. This video explains our approaches further, and you’ll hear more in the weeks and months to come about our collective long-term vision for creating a nation where health is not a privilege for some, but a right for all. https://lnkd.in/gWRWb-W3 #HealthEquity #EconomicInclusion #PublicHealth #Health #Healthcare #CommunityConditions

If we want a healthier society, the first thing we need to do is fix health education. Since Let's Move concluded, food companies have gone on to become the nation's #1 supplier of health education, with a horrible curriculum called 'Together Counts'. They have also stripped millions of dollars from health/physical education organizations, leaving them as the dominant players in school health. Until this is fixed, nothing else we do will make much of a difference, unless our goal is to simply help more people get treatment after they get sick.
These goals are well known and overdue. The reality is that, those who speak to power will like to talk about them with no real intention of doing anything about them. That’s how the poor in the society remains at the bottom of the ladder. I applaud your efforts to at least bring the awareness. May you gain the ability to succeed!
Thank you for your leadership and advocating for humanity.❤️
Thank you for creating this inspiring vision! Let’s make it reality.

Applause, Applause, and a standing ovation for COURAGEOUS leadership!
It's a great vision and I hope we can get there in our lifetime!
I'm working with some non-profits who share much of the same vision! I will pass this along! Thanks, Rich.

5moI enjoyed reading your comments here and watching the video. At the very end of the video, the narrator speaks about making access to healthcare and good health right and not a privilege. I believe that is an imperative. I also believe it won’t happen in my lifetime but if we start now, perhaps our grandchildren or their children will live in a United States that has embedded in the constitution all right to healthcare, a right to clean water, to clean air. It’s worth trying even if it seems a high mountain to climb.
