In the first quarter of 2024, Black & McDonald undertook a critical cooling tower replacement project on the 25th floor of the 609 Granville St building in Downtown Vancouver. Initially conceived as a crane-based operation, the project was reimagined due to urban constraints. The project took to the skies with an aerial lift strategy, deploying a helicopter for precision placement. Led by Operations Manager Dermot Hawe and Lead Foreman Steve Darby, the operation successfully executed over 30 lifts within a five-hour window, demonstrating our team’s commitment to innovative solutions and operational excellence.
