Microalgae are microorganisms found in marine, freshwater, and soil ecosystems. They are versatile, both heterotrophic and autotrophic, and play a crucial role in producing organic substances from carbon substrates🌱💧
In aquafeeds, microalgae offer numerous benefits, including enhancing the nutritional profile, providing essential fatty acids, and reducing the reliance on fishmeal and fish oil. 🐟🌿

Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids are vital for the health of fish, shrimp, and humans. In BioMar, we explore alternative omega-3 sources like terrestrial oilseed crops and rendered oils to reduce reliance on traditional fish oil 🌿
Innovative solutions such as algae and genetically modified oils have shown great promise. Our partnership with Yield10 Bioscience aims to commercialize omega-3 camelina oil, offering sustainable options for aquafeed. 🌟
