🎗️Cancer Survivor Awareness Month This month is Cancer Survivor Awareness Month. We honor those who have faced the immeasurable challenges of a cancer diagnosis and emerged victorious, encouraging others with their stories of faith, hope, and courage. They inspire us with their love, strength, and determination. This month is also a reminder of the progress made in cancer treatments and the ongoing need for diagnostic support and research. Our foundational mission at Biocare is "fighting cancer one slide at a time" and we celebrate this month with the friends and families of those that have conquered or are still fighting this terrible disease. Let’s use this month to amplify the voices of cancer survivors, celebrate their victories, and commit to supporting their journey every step of the way.

🦴 As we recognize Sarcoma/Bone Cancer Awareness Month, it's crucial to shine a light on key markers in clinical and research that play roles in our understanding of this disease. PRAME (Preferentially Expressed Antigen in Melanoma) is a cancer-testis antigen that has gained significant attention for its diagnostic utility in immunohistochemistry (IHC) diagnostics. Here’s an overview of its diagnostic utility: ✨While generally used in Melanoma differentiation and prognostics, PRAME also has utility in germ cell tumors and its detection can aid in the diagnosis and characterization of tumors in Sarcomas. ✨PRAME is expressed in a variety of other cancers, including breast, lung, and ovarian cancers. It encodes a latent nuclear antigen which is the product of the viral gene ORF73.1 ✨IHC staining for HHV-8 is a valuable tool in confirming the diagnosis of Kaposi's sarcoma, particularly in cases where clinical presentation or histology is inconclusive. ✨HHV-8 is strongly linked to Kaposi's sarcoma, a vascular tumor that can manifest in different forms, including classic, endemic, iatrogenic, and epidemic . Melanoma Awareness Month Spotlight: The role of MART-1/Melan-A cocktail (clones M2-7C10 + M2-9E3) The MART-1/Melan-A cocktail (clones M2-7C10 + M2-9E3) recognizes a protein of 18 kDa, identified as MART-1 antibody (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T cells 1) or Melan-A.
