On or around June 19th, 1865, word of the Emancipation Proclamation finally got around to some of the last enslaved peoples in Galveston, TX, stating that slavery had indeed ended. And so Juneteenth was born – a holiday that has been celebrated in a multitude of ways by a variety of people for over 150 years. But in June 2021, it was officially celebrated as a National Federal Holiday. But with anything “new” comes questions.   And as BarkleyOKRP’s ERG, The Hub and Putney would have it, we wanted to alleviate some of the pressure from Black People to teach others about the history. Our response: CHAT Juneteenth – an innovative tool that helps people educate themselves on this piece of American History by simply asking questions about the holiday.
