New solar energy milestones! ⚡☀️ The Virginia SCC has greenlit a huge leap forward in renewable energy with more than a dozen new solar projects from Dominion Energy. That's a whopping 764MW! It's a game-changer: With these projects, nearly 200,000 homes could keep their lights on through solar power alone. The scope is immense - four major projects owned by Dominion Energy Virginia will deliver 329MW. Imagine solar farms stretching across Powhatan, Pittsylvania, Richmond, and Henry Counties - from the sun-drenched 57MW Beldale Solar to the expansive 127MW Bookers Mill Solar. This is a time of transformation, and these solar projects are pathfinders of progress. As we are passionate about sustainable development, we can't help but celebrate this clean energy breakthrough. Across June 12-13, IPA Senior Program Manager for Illinois Solar for All Jennifer Schmidt spoke on a panel at the Wood Mackenzie Solar & Energy Storage Summit in San Francisco. The panel, titled “Infrastructure-as-a-Service Business Models for Community Solar” explored community solar as a means for ensuring that the benefits of the renewable energy transition are reaching limited and moderate-income households. This discussion also shed some light on how federal policies and funding play a critical role in the growth of renewable energy. The panel discussion particularly highlighted how the U.S. EPA Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund is going to support and catalyze expansion of solar access to low- and moderate-income communities. The Solar & Energy Storage Summit also explored new technological innovations, energy storage expansion, and safety concerns for upcoming projects. “I’m still waiting for someone to implement this concept in a canola field in Alberta. The idea is to elevate the panels high enough to allow a combine and a grain truck down the rows, going four panels wide with skipping every second row. Connecting to the farmyard, incorporating outbuildings for cows, and potentially adding a windmill for a comprehensive energy solution. If the field is sizable, combining both solar and wind technologies could optimize efficiency, providing better value and potentially reducing the production curve difference between June and December. The graph below illustrates a residential production curve, showcasing the contrast between solar output in June and December. Introducing wind power might help flatten that curve. Just my thought.”

⚡Powering Australia's #Decarbonization Journey: GE Vernova's Solar & Storage Solutions Announced for Quinbrook's Supernode BESS Project In a significant move towards Australia's emission reduction targets and decarbonization goals, GE Vernova's Solar & Storage Solutions business has been selected by Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners as the integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solution provider for the first stage of their Supernode BESS project in Queensland.   This 250MW/500MWh storage facility marks a crucial step in bolstering the #RenewableEnergy infrastructure in #Australia, supporting its transition to a low-carbon future. California takes a giant leap towards a sustainable future! Clearway Energy Group has begun construction on two massive projects: a 200 MW solar farm in Fresno County and a 113.5 MW standalone battery energy storage project in San Bernardino County. With $700M in construction financing, these projects will significantly contribute to California's goal of a reliable, affordable, and clean electric grid. The Daggett Solar + Storage complex, one of the largest operating solar and storage hybrid facilities in America will provide a combined 482 MW solar and 394 MW storage capacity. This is a huge step forward in harnessing the power of renewable energy to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and mitigate climate change. The Daggett battery Storage plant will store excess energy generated by solar panels during the day for use during periods of high demand or low sunlight, battery storage facilities like this 113.5 MW project in San Bernardino County are helping to stabilize the grid and ensure a reliable supply of clean energy. As the world continues to transition away from fossil fuels, battery storage will play an increasingly crucial role in unlocking the full potential of solar power and creating a sustainable energy future. "HASI, an investor in climate solutions, announced an expansion of its partnership with Summit Ridge Energy, a commercial solar and energy storage company, to construct, own, and operate a 250-MW community solar portfolio. Per the agreement, HASI will provide financing for Summit Ridge Energy’s growing pipeline of community solar projects in Illinois and Maryland over the next two years. Once complete, the portfolio of ground-mounted and rooftop community solar projects will provide energy savings to residential and small commercial customers and avoid more than 51,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually – which is equivalent to eliminating the carbon emissions generated from 118,000 barrels of crude oil." - Renewable Energy World #solarenergy #solarpower #renewableenergy
