Happy #PrideMonth from Ripple&Co! 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ At a time when less than 50% of #LGBTQ+ people feel comfortable coming out at work, often because they fear being treated differently, it is important to move beyond "rainbow-washing" this year (Deloitte, 2023). 🌈 Rainbow-washing occurs when an organisation uses rainbow logos, typically throughout June, without committing to meaningful actions or support. Pride often brings up certain images and ideas, but it can mean different things to different people, each supporting the cause in a way that works for them. 👍 Here are 6 reasons we believe #Pride is still as relevant now, as it was 54 years ago:   1️⃣ Advancing #Equality and Legal Rights 2️⃣ Raising Awareness and Education 3️⃣ Visibility and Representation 4️⃣ Mental Health and Community Support 5️⃣ Combating Hate and Violence 6️⃣ Celebrating Success and Diversity   Let's make this Pride Month about real change, #Inclusion, understanding and celebration. 🥳

As diversity, equity, and inclusion become increasingly important, it's crucial to ensure that all voices are heard. This includes Trans people, who often face unique challenges and obstacles. In fact, it's impossible to consider yourself a DEI professional if you're not actively making room for Trans individuals in your conversations and decision-making processes. It's January 2024 already, which means that there's only 3 weeks left to take part in our Queering Public Space research project! In collaboration with the University of Westminster, we have been working to improve our understanding of #lgbtq people's experiences of public space to help create inclusive and welcoming spaces for the intersectionally diverse communities that live and work in our towns and cities. If you haven't taken part in our online survey yet, it takes just 10-15 minutes to complete at https://lnkd.in/eg_RMUAt. You will be asked about your perception of safe and inclusive spaces, before being placed into six 360° environments where you can listen and pan around a public space and tell us what works - and what doesn't - for you. It's been fascinating to see interim data from responses so far and I can't wait to share findings in the next couple of months, but there's still time to add your comments before the survey closes. Today October 11 is National Coming Out Day. "Coming Out" is not just a one time affair, most often than not, you have to do it multiple times across multiple interactions. Do it at your own pace and at your own time, remember that it is your story to tell. How to be supportive if a person comes out to you? here are some personal suggestions. 1. Listen with an open heart. Understand what the individual is trying to say to you, this person trusts you enough for them to tell you their innermost core being. 2. Ask them in what way would they like to be supported in life. 3. Don't out them. Remember that this is their story to tell and not yours Coming out is a personal journey, so please respect this path. The law, which came into effect in January 2024, requires retailers with 500 or more employees to maintain a gender-neutral section or area for children’s toys. Gender-neutral toy aisles represent a significant shift in how society views and markets toys. This approach aims to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all children, helping to break down gender stereotypes and promote a broader range of skills and interests.
