Xi Jinping will preside over the Third Plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party on July 15–18. This meeting will focus on ideas to “further comprehensively deepen reform” and “advance Chinese-style modernization” amid growing concerns about Beijing’s ability to steward the country’s economic, geopolitical, and social development. Several days later, the Party will issue an authoritative “decision” that should guide policymaking for years to come. Join us on July 25 at 9 a.m. ET for a rapid-reaction webinar hosted by the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis Fellow Neil Thomas and featuring insights from CCA experts Bert Hofman(郝福满), Lizzi C. Lee, and Guoguang Wu, who will analyze the context, contents, and consequences of this important policy document. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/3VURHaF

Check out this great article on China's low-carbon transition by ASPI's Daria Kurushina!
After countless hours of research, coffee-fueled nights, and deep dives into the complexities of climate litigation, I'm thrilled to share my latest article with you all! 🌱 This journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions – from the initial spark of inspiration to the frustration of sifting through scarce information. But, driven by passion and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, I've brought it all together. I delved into how climate litigation is powering China's low-carbon transition, highlighting the pivotal role that global legal actions play in pushing for environmental accountability and sustainable practices. Thank you, Dialogue Earth team, for giving me a chance to shed light on this complicated and often overlooked topic. I read their newsletter weekly and am delighted to be featured here. "Compared to a strong climate movement globally and a robust mechanism of climate lawsuits across jurisdictions, China's climate litigation is still in its nascent stage. Nonetheless, it has the potential to help the world's top emitter achieve its dual carbon goals – of peaking emissions before 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality before 2060. It can also help China adapt to the impacts of climate change by increasing local-government transparency in upholding central directives." Read more: https://lnkd.in/ewMkJgJT
