TIME FOR ACTION! Kudos to the Biden-Harris administration and the US Small Business Administration for launching Empower to Grow (E2G), a training program designed to address the disparity of Black-owned businesses receiving federal contracts. With the goal of increasing the share of these businesses that participate in the administration's procurement of more than $700 billion in goods and services each year, this initiative aims to provide smaller, minority businesses with the tools and knowledge they need to secure federal contracts. This can enhance their growth and impact, making it a vital step towards achieving a more equitable economy. This is the time for every agency at the federal, state and local levels to follow suit and explore what they should be doing right now to eliminate significant disparities in their contracting with minority and women-owned businesses. If they do not, let’s be sure to remember it the next time we vote. #governmentcontracts #governmentprocurement #federalcontracts #E2G #smallbusinesses #blackownedbusinesses #legalconsultancy

A recent report from the U.S. Department of Labor showed that of the businesses registered to receive federal contracts, just 12% are #Black-owned. To address this disparity, the federal government has launched Empower to Grow (E2G), an updated training program from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This initiative aims to provide smaller, minority-owned businesses with the tools and knowledge they need to secure federal contracts, which can enhance their growth and impact. This training program, part of the White House’s plan to expand the more than $700 billion in federal contracts each year to more #minority-owned businesses, is a step in the right direction. I am passionate about supporting initiatives like E2G that empower entrepreneurs and serve as another step toward closing the #racialwealthgap and building #generationalweatlh among minority communities.
