This will only appeal to hardcore biz nerds But I love the new "Business Model" data field on CB Insights You can now * immediately understand how a company makes money * filter/search for companies of interest based on their business model * analyze funding, valuation, geographic, etc trends by business model More here for those who also nerd out on this isht 👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/eP_bsnKm
Now tie that to mapping the ecosystems and I will totally nerd out! Seriously, super cool and congratulations to you and your teams for making this happen.
Yay 🤓
Nice search feature to add to CB Insights! Does the user search by the literal tag name (and so has a way of knowing what tags are available), or does the user search with natural text and there is an automated semantic search on the available tags?
Brilliant addition Anand Sanwal. Feature request: Alexander Osterwalder's 9 building blocks would provide a whole new dimension of clarity.
That sounds incredibly useful, Anand! How frequently does CB Insights plan to update the "Business Model" data field?

6dCertainly, nerded out on that one. Taking it a step further - one startup valuation metric that is often missing is how well the startup firm "fits" into its business ecosystem/cluster/hub/supply chain. And given that all startups' NAIC industry codes are known. I consider the article below* as a Top 10 post of 2019. There's also a need to consider the maturity level of the ecosystem/cluster/hub/supply chain, i.e., how well an #insurtech (#healthtech) #startup fits in the firm's ecosystem-level would determine the startup's growth, risks, etc. (pic below). *The Myths and Realities of Business Ecosystems | MIT SMR 2/25/2019 Before determining an ecosystem strategy, organizations must first shift to a new perspective and way of thinking. #TechHartford https://sloanreview.mit.edu/article/the-myths-and-realities-of-business-ecosystems/
