Leadership and management behaviors are both part of a leader’s role… with the people focus being more important.
For many #leaders, though, managing things brings less uncertainty than leading people, as processes usually stay more or less the same. But people’s preferences, feelings and moods can change regilarly, which brings in the uncertainty many leaders feel uncomfortable with. It seems easier to just “manage” through to deliver results.
But effective leaders show and play along a behavioral portfolio that covers both distinctive areas - #leadership and #management. They are able to show the people focused behaviors when needed, and can then easily shift to management behaviors and back again in the same situation.
