Overview of my Project HUMAN REACH!!! 🤗 Certainly! The project aims to analyze a human contact network where nodes represent individuals and edges denote physical proximity or contacts in the real world. Using network science and data analytics, this study explores the intricate web of connections among people, seeking to uncover patterns, dynamics, and implications of these real-world interactions. 👨👩👧👦 By delving into proximity networks, the project aims to reveal insights into social interactions, information flow, disease transmission, and community formation. Through advanced methodologies and computational tools, the project strives to understand the structure of human contact networks and their impact on various aspects of society. 🤝 Ultimately, this research contributes to understanding how physical connections among individuals influence behaviors, information dissemination, and the spread of contagious phenomena. The goal is to provide insights for informed decision-making and innovative solutions across diverse domains by examining the fabric of real-world interactions. 📚 💯 #networking #dataanalytics #visualization #datascience #algorithms Dipartimento di Ingegneria UNIME

Webinar Recap: Diversity in Research & its Impact on Open Science 🏳️🌈 Last week, we had the privilege of hosting a webinar on the critical topic of "Diversity in Research and its impact on Open Science." It was an insightful discussion that we'd like to summarize and share some key takeaways. “The conversation showed that the relationship between diversity and open science is complicated. Two agendas that can support each other or make things worse for each other. At the core was the importance of understanding diversity in an individual, group and social context. It is also two agendas that are intrinsically entwined in all parts of the research ecosystem and often the wider society. Hence the conversation covered publication, data, space exploration, education, culture and of course AI. If there is any conclusion to be drawn from the conversation it is that we need to pay attention to the two agendas in parallel and really think through the consequences of our actions, particularly as well meaning actions taken in the context of open science can have real life negative consequences for minorities” says our facilitator Jakob Feldtfos Christensen. Thanks to our incredible speakers - Jakob Feldtfos Christensen from DIVERSIuniTY and Marcelle Laliberté, Dr. from HEC Paris who enriched the discussion with their expertise and experience. Big thanks to all the attendees too for making this webinar a success. 🥂 Let's continue this important conversation and work together towards a more inclusive and open scientific community. The webinar recording is now available on our YouTube channel at https://lnkd.in/dRQYHdWf More such interesting conversations are coming soon! "For me, it’s really important to infuse love into academic, scholarly kinds of formal and informal realms of discourse, especially within technology because I think love is antithetical to a lot of the extractive dynamics that proliferate in these kinds of spaces." Digital Civil Society Lab Practitioner Fellow Neema Githere spoke with Tara Conley about their project on data healing, their incorporation of mindful and loving practices into their work, and more. The advancement of open science is fundamentally a communal effort, underscored by the engagement and contributions of researchers, developers, and institutions. Tools and platforms that reduce the friction in sharing and analyzing data—such as Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) validators and containerized apps—serve as critical enablers of this movement. However, technology alone cannot drive the change needed. The culture of science itself must evolve to prioritize openness, with incentives and recognition structures that reward data sharing and reuse. By fostering an environment where researchers are recognized for their contributions to the collective pool of knowledge, we can catalyze a change that extends beyond individual projects or disciplines. This cultural evolution towards openness and collaboration promises to accelerate discovery, enhance transparency, and build a more robust foundation for scientific inquiry. What are your thoughts on the movement towards open access and the transformation it promises for scientific research? #OpenAccess #ResearchData #DataAnalytics #HighWire #InsightVizor #AcademicResearch #Innovation
