Youth and Family TREE Peer

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Recovery Peer Advocate to join our team and deliver vital services under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) initiative, focusing on the enhancement and expansion of treatments and recovery services for adolescents, transitional-aged youth, and their families. As a Recovery Peer Advocate, you will play a crucial role in supporting and empowering young individuals and their families on their journey to recovery from substance abuse and mental health challenges.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties as assigned)

  • Peer Support: Provide empathetic and non-judgmental peer support to adolescents and transitional-aged youth dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues, drawing upon personal experiences to inspire hope and resilience.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Conduct proactive outreach efforts to connect with individuals and families in need, building trusting relationships to encourage participation in treatment and recovery programs.
  • Individualized Recovery Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop personalized recovery plans, taking into account their unique needs, strengths, and goals.
  • Resource Referral: Assist individuals and families in accessing appropriate treatment and support services, such as counseling, therapy, support groups, and educational programs.
  • Family Support: Offer guidance and support to families, helping them navigate the challenges of supporting a loved one's recovery journey.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly and effectively to crisis situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques and coordinating with emergency services as required.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of adolescents and transitional youth within the community and healthcare systems, ensuring access to quality care and support.
  • Peer-Led Workshops: Facilitate peer-led workshops and support groups to foster a sense of community and provide a safe space for sharing experiences and coping strategies.
  • Data Collection: Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, services provided, and progress toward recovery goals.
  • Training and Education: Participate in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices, treatment modalities, and advancements in substance abuse and mental health services.

Education And Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Additional certifications or coursework in peer support, substance abuse, or mental health-related fields are advantageous.
  • CRPA-Youth credential preferred.
  • Lived Experience: Must have personal experience with recovery from substance use disorders and/or mental health challenges and be willing to use this experience to support and inspire others.
