Our client is a leading provider of software for power grid transmission analysis and market simulations as well as power system consulting, including TARA and PROBE software. Our client's software is widely used by many companies across North America.


Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Vice President of Sales to join our team. As a pivotal member of their senior leadership team, you will spearhead their sales strategy and drive revenue growth by delivering exceptional results in annual recurring revenue (ARR) bookings. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the U.S. electric power sector, with a proven track record of success in selling software solutions to their core customer base. Key Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Growth: Develop and execute strategies to achieve annual recurring revenue (ARR) bookings growth goals through adding new and expanding penetration into existing accounts.
  • Brand to Booking Ownership: Take complete ownership of the sales process from brand introduction to order (booking), ensuring a seamless customer journey while fostering long-term satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Collaborative Strategy: Work closely with other senior leaders to gather and synthesize customer and market feedback, providing this input to help refine product and service strategies to effectively align with evolving market demands and customer needs.
  • Product Marketing: Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to develop and execute comprehensive product marketing plans that resonate with target audiences, ensuring seamless alignment with sales objectives and market positioning.
  • Buyer Relationship Management: Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within target prospects, employing strategic influence to guide purchasing decisions and drive revenue growth.
  • CRM Implementation: Lead the adoption of client relationship management tools and systems, leveraging technical support to optimize sales processes and net customer retention.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop robust frameworks for managing, tracking, and reporting key sales pipeline performance metrics, facilitating data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement efforts across the sales organization.
  • Strategic Leadership: Participate actively in executive-level planning and spearhead strategic initiatives as required, contributing valuable insights and expertise to drive the long-term growth and success of the company in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Contracts and Licensing Process: Work closely with other senior leaders to continuously optimize the sales and renewal process to maximize customer net retention.
  • Documentation and System Building: Drive the development and documentation of minimum-viable systems, transitioning from operational execution to strategic management, and enabling scalability and efficiency within the sales organization for sustainable growth.

  • Entrepreneurial/Startup Ethos: Possessing an entrepreneurial mindset and work ethic, with a hands-on, "roll up your sleeves" approach to building and scaling initiatives.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and achieving sustained year-over-year ARR growth in the software sales.
  • Industry Expertise: Deep understanding and knowledge of the U.S. electric power sector, with a successful history of selling software solutions to independent system operators, utilities, independent power producers, and/or developers.
  • Technical Acumen: The ideal candidate will possess enough technical acumen to create content and deliver presentations of our products and services to generate and advance leads.
  • Creativity, Strategy, and Developing the Standard: Use creativity and past experience to develop from the ground up the standard to create pipeline, work and close deals. Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans, with a clear vision for building and scaling a go-to-market function.
  • Leadership and Team Building: Looking for both the experience and the desire to build, train, and lead a high-performing sales function.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with senior leadership, product, and engineering teams to drive alignment and achieve business objectives.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and market analysis skills, with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Change Management: Experience in implementing and driving adoption of new processes, tools, and systems within sales organizations.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred but not required.
