This role is full time, hybrid and based in New York City.


Position Overview


The VP, Communications will focus on spearheading earned-first creative activations that break-through and effectively drive media coverage for our clients. The ideal candidate is a natural leader and seasoned communications expert with experience driving, managing, and executing impactful integrated communications campaigns for consumer and lifestyle brands. In addition, the candidate must have extensive client management background, a deep understanding of the ever-changing media landscape, and the ability to lead strategic counsel, internally and externally, to successfully align our client’s objectives with impactful earned media ROI.


Responsibilities


Responsibilities for this senior role will include serving as a strategic counsel to clients and as a team leader. This person will help to develop strong integrated communications strategies that build brand awareness and achieve key business objectives. Key responsibilities will include:


  • Using your in-depth understanding of the future of earned to guide and counsel the team and clients on how to effectively and creatively break through and drive media coverage and social conversation for an announcement, new product, collaboration, talent partnership, event sponsorship, etc.
  • Develop creative, earned-first, integrated campaigns rooted in insights and culture - from conception to execution.
  • Be a thought-partner for senior-level clients by understanding their business, the communications landscape, and the value of integrated campaigns, while helping to maintain and deepen our client relationships and uncover new opportunities to add value.
  • Manage cross-functional account teams in the development and execution of cohesive campaigns and strategic long-lead plans that support our clients’ objectives and launches, setting model behavior on creative collaboration.
  • Display a strong understanding of how talent, experiential, influencer marketing, social, and creative production can work together to deliver earned results, and facilitate a collaborative, integrated D1A team to support our clients.
  • Oversee and manage media relations strategies and execution for integrated communications programs to ensure the team delivers on our clients’ objectives.
  • Lead day-to-day collaboration with partner agencies through the lens of our clients’ earned objectives, anticipate roadblocks, and facilitate success.
  • Use a strong understanding of and relationships within the lifestyle landscape to identify and execute earned-first activation opportunities, including brand collaborations and built-for-media events.
  • Maintain current knowledge of cultural and media trends, the competitive landscape, and confidently provide strategic point-of-views to the client.
  • Participate in new business pitch development and/or presentations.
  • Serve on the leadership team, drive office culture and be a mentor to staff.
  • Travel and dining experience is a plus


Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in communications roles
  • Excellent organizational, communication, judgment and people skills.
  • Proven track record of practical and successful application of ideas.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a diverse team.
  • Understanding of brand partnerships and experience in working with creative teams to build effective strategies and campaigns.
  • Creative storytelling skills coupled with a deep understanding on how to package a story, understanding the importance of visual elements.
  • Deep understanding of developing media strategies and strong media relationships.
  • A proven track record for developing and executing programs that have driven tangible results
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and pivoting quickly


Preferred Skills


  • Prior PR agency experience in integrated communications strategy, brand partnerships, and large-scale event activations.
  • Ability to seamlessly support and deliver success across a wide range of assignments and client categories — including travel, financial services, lifestyle, consumer tech, fashion, and food.

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $160K-$200K and this position is eligible for benefits that include medical insurance (health, dental, and vision), retirement plan, paid time off, paid parental leave, new business and employee referral bonuses, etc. Please note that the compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for New York City based hires only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Pay Transparency Law. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as candidates' relevant work experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
