What You'll Do

  • Generate loans and deposits by soliciting small to medium sized businesses to establish and perpetuate a comprehensive HFCU banking relationship, maintain frequent contact with, and “cold call” potential prospects, actively participate in civic organizations and pursue leads from HFCU’s branches, Call Center and other departments.
  • Establish strong partnerships with branch personnel to help them better understand commercial lending and enable them to become a consistent source of new business referrals. Interact directly with the branch on any member business loan exceeding retail limits and facilitate credit committee approval for loans to be retained within the branch system.
  • Review business loan applications and supporting financial statements to develop information sufficient to determine the borrowing capacity, capitalization and cash flow dynamics of the applicant. Assist in coordinating and collecting information from business members so the application package can be submitted for appropriate underwriting, including, where necessary, ordering appraisals and environmental reports.
  • Assist HFCU’s SVP, Commercial & Business Banking with preparation of application packages and drafting correspondence, memos, proposals, commitment letters, credit comments and reports. Assures that assigned projects are completed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Assist in the organization and administration of Hanscom FCU’s business and commercial lending services including ongoing maintenance of up to date loan and documentation files, compiling materials requested by internal and external auditors and reviewing loan documentation for completeness.
  • Assist in the preparation of “pipeline reports,” that are submitted to the monthly ALM Meeting, populate loan approval memorandums including relationship overview (DDA’s, Consumer Loans, Commercial Loans, etc.) as well as other reports that may arise from time to time or as requested or required.
  • Meet with members and address servicing and scheduling issues, including problems and/or questions relating to existing accounts and new products and services.
  • Performs additional duties as requested, required or assigned by the SVP, Commercial & Business Banking.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required

  • Strong desire to work in a purpose driven organization
  • Strong leadership qualities with a big picture and pragmatic approach, leading effectively through setting a vision and coaching, motivational techniques, and conflict management
  • Ten or more years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience with at least 6-8 years of credit and commercial lending/ banking or credit union experience, or similar position in financial institutions with extensive personal member/ external partner contact.
  • Demonstrated capability and passion for developing talent and a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engagement
  • Strong delegation and team building skills with the ability to support a team and the team’s work embracing ownership, accountability, and responsibility
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at the senior management level and across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent analytic, organization, presentation, and facilitation skills; ability to lead multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize workload and to work independently
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
