About the Company:


JBAndrews are currently partnered with a rapidly expanding small molecule CDMO founded by experienced process and manufacturing scientists from leading global pharma companies. The mission is to create a world leading development and manufacturing organization.


They work with biotech and large pharma companies across multiple regions including the US, EU, and Asia. Product focus includes small molecules and oligonucleotide intermediates, registered starting materials, and APIs.


The company started operations in south China and currently employ 300+ staff located mostly over 2 sites, with an additional business office in Shanghai.


In 2021 the company completed construction of a new $50M cGMP manufacturing facility, with a broad range of capabilities and processing capacity.


The company seeks a Director of Business Development or a possible VP position for the right candidate.


The key objective is securing new contracts for the development and manufacturing of pharma small molecule key raw materials, intermediates, registered starting materials and APIs and oligonucleotides and Phosphoramidites and GalNAc.


Responsibilities:


  • Reporting directly to the Chief Business Officer.
  • Prospecting activity within the US and develop new leads. Territories of interest include, but are not necessarily limited to: the North-East, Philadelphia, North Carolina and California.
  • Secure client site meetings.
  • Secure agreements such as CDA and Manufacturing service agreements.
  • Attract RFP/RFQs for relevant opportunities.
  • Engage in site visits and attend key industry events.
  • A significant amount of travel may be required at times.
  • Provide market feedback and contribute to business strategy.


Experience & Qualifications:


  • A technical degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is essential. A post graduate degree would be preferred but not mandatory if competency in a similar role is already proven.
  • At least 5 years of experiencing selling small molecule drug substance/API development services to pharma and biotech customers.
  • Experience within innovative pharma, or a major pharma contractor working with small molecules and or oligonucleotides.
  • Experience in chemical process development, scale-up and manufacturing is desired but not essential.
  • A strong, recent, relevant, and active network of contacts within the pharma industry is essential. Especially in outsourcing, sourcing, external manufacturing, CMC departments.
  • Good understanding of small molecule manufacturing cost components across a range of manufacturing scales.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good critical thinking/analytical skills.
  • Familiar with working under confidential agreements.
