Vice President New Business Development

Job Summary

The Vice President New Business Development, Employee Plans will create the opportunity for external and internal Producers to place business with Employee Plans, LLC. This person will need to have a basic understanding of the TPA services and processes, an energetic personality, the ability to develop partnerships with Producers and form a strong professional relationship with our various reinsurers, carriers, utilization review companies, preferred provider organizations and wellness program sponsors.

Essential Duties

  • Relationships--Develop relationships with internal/external Producers; help Producers prospect for new business from existing clients, outside agents and identified target groups; contact prospects to determine insurance and TPA needs with review of current risk management plans and present solutions with Producers based upon these needs; attend self-insured industry seminars and trade shows to meet centers of influence, broaden company awareness and network.
  • Education--Communicate and educate the Producers on the services the TPA offers; meet quarterly or semi-annually with Producers to discuss service issues; claim trends and new cost containment techniques.
  • New Business--Present new business and trend analysis to clients and/or producer; collect information, develop and deliver new and renewal proposals of insurance and TPA services including details of coverages, limits, deductibles and other pertinent information and explain to client or prospect after reviewing underwriting information.
  • Work with TPA in brining vendor solutions to the operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Marketing and/or Business Administration or Insurance
  • 5-8 years sales experience (preferably in an Employee Benefits capacity within Insurance)
  • Health/Life Insurance License
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Responsible for the supervision of two or more non-exempt positions of similar content and objectives.
