Our client, a retail conglomerate is seeking a skilled VP of Technology to join their team!


Position Title: VP of Technology / IT Head

Location: Onsite in Buena Park, five days a week

Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000

Language Skills: Mandarin is highly desirable but not mandatory

Preferred Experience: Background in offline retail or grocery industry, with integrated knowledge of POS, WMS, and SAP (ERP), particularly Toshiba and Loc systems


Position Overview: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the VP of Technology / IT Head will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of the company’s technology operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective deployment and management of IT resources to support the company's growth, enhance the customer experience, and maintain operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy: Craft and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the company's objectives, focusing on growth, innovation, and operational efficiency. Identify opportunities to leverage technology for enhancing the customer experience and driving revenue growth.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and data centers, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security of retail operations.
  • Application Development: Lead the development and customization of software applications and systems tailored to the retail industry's needs, such as inventory management, supply chain optimization, and omni-channel sales platforms.
  • Offshore Employee Management: Supervise offshore teams to support the IT needs of the retail organization. Develop strategies for recruiting, onboarding, and managing offshore talent, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Data Transition and Implementation: Lead data transition projects to migrate legacy systems, applications, and databases to new platforms or cloud environments. Develop transition plans, collaborate with stakeholders, and implement data governance policies to ensure successful migrations with minimal disruption.
  • Technology Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and outsourcing partners to support IT initiatives and projects. Evaluate vendor capabilities, negotiate contracts, and foster strategic partnerships.
  • Change Management and Adoption: Lead change management initiatives to drive the adoption of new technologies, processes, and systems within the organization. Develop communication strategies, training programs, and engagement efforts to ensure smooth transitions.
  • IT Governance and Compliance: Establish IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Implement controls, audits, and assessments to monitor compliance and mitigate risks related to data security, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Technology Innovation and Strategy: Drive technology innovation and strategy to enable business growth and competitive advantage. Identify emerging technologies and evaluate potential investments, communicating a clear vision and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Data Analytics: Utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools to gain insights into customer behavior, market trends, and operational performance. Drive data-driven decision-making to optimize processes and support strategic initiatives.
  • Cybersecurity: Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive customer data, financial transactions, and intellectual property from cyber threats and breaches. Develop incident response plans and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-10+ years in IT, preferably within the retail industry.
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, including offshore employees, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multitasking and Problem-Solving: Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
