About the Position:

As a member of our Underwriting team, you will be instrumental in how we educate and communicate with our agents. You will analyze insurance applications, review inspections, and take the appropriate action needed to underwrite policies according to Swyfft’s guidelines.


In this fast-paced position you will use your impeccable organization skills and keen sense of prioritization to manage your daily responsibilities. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow with a highly collaborative team and company.


*This position is a 100% remote U.S. based opportunity that can be based in one of the following states only: AL, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

Some travel for day-to-day work, team meetings, and training will be required.


Key Responsibilities: (What you'll be asked to do)

  • Apply your underwriting experience to assess risks based on data provided and inspection reports.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our agents, effectively communicating their eligibility for new and renewal policies.
  • Communicate with insurance agents via phone and email in risk assessment, obtaining important information, and answering inquiries.
  • Correspond with internal team members to obtain information, answer inquiries, or explain company underwriting policies.
  • Partner with internal team members on underwriting-related projects.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, fast-paced work environment.


Some Requirements: (What you’ll need to be successful)

  • 1-2 years of experience as an Associate Underwriter or Underwriting Assistant in the Commercial and/or Homeowners insurance space.
  • Previous experience working as an Underwriter for an MGA or carrier.


Certifications or Licensing:

  • Producer license preferred, but not required.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.


Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Proficiency with insurance related programs, systems, or applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using programs such as Slack & MS Teams.


Other:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connectivity required.
  • Designated quiet work from home space.
