Treatment Plant Operator "A" License

Overview

Under direction, at a journeyman level, operates and maintains equipment in a wastewater treatment plant.

Essential Functions

Supports 24/7 operations. Operates and performs routine maintenance of process and support areas of a treatment plant; monitors, initiates and directs adjustments to plant processes and equipment both manually and through process control systems; takes samples of wastewater and other process flows and performs basic wastewater laboratory analysis; keeps accurate records and makes reports; cleans plant process areas and equipment; provides training for Treatment Plant Operator Trainees; makes repairs of plant equipment; assists plant's trades employees; unloads chemicals to replenish chemical solution tanks.

Additional Responsibilities

Performs related work as required or as delegated by Senior Operators, Team Leaders and Supervisor.

Qualifications

Training And Experience

Graduation from high school or equivalent and holds a Missouri Class "A" wastewater treatment operator's license.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Working knowledge of wastewater treatment plant processes, including plant piping, settling basins, secondary treatment, sludge thickening, incinerators, and digesters; working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors and related electrical and mechanical equipment; ability to read and analyze meters, charts and log entries; ability to maintain accurate records; working knowledge of safe work practices.

Special Requirement

Must have and maintain a Missouri class "A" wastewater treatment plant operator's license.

Must possess a valid driver's license by the state in which the employee resides.

Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures", this position has been designated as safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
