Job Purpose
Under limited supervision Student Services Coordinator II, with the Educational Services Division, would be responsible for being the liaison between all public school districts and DJJ Education Division. Will work to ensure the coordination, accountability and delivery of career information through career awareness, development and exploration to students in K-12 school setting. Provide direct services to staff, students and all stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
Processes HR functions and documentation for personnel-related actions such as hiring, reassignment, employee relations or disciplinary actions, and/or separation; payroll, classification/compensation, and other HR-related functions in accordance with Agency policies.
Maintains District Leadership Team EPMS documentation and files; manages oversight of District Leadership Team EPMS schedules, documentation, and files in accordance with Agency policies.
Advises educational administrators and program coordinators with statewide coverage on matters relating to policies and procedures.
Establishes and reviews policies and procedures to ensure conformance with department of education, state, federal and institutional guidelines.
Assists district leadership and students in identifying and accessing career information and resource material for students.
Coordinates meetings, schedules appointments, and acts as liaison to the Department of Education and District Office.
Performs complex clerical and statistical record-keeping duties related to the evaluation, preparation, modification and maintenance of scholastic records for all school sites.
Establishes and maintains permanent student records and related filing systems including enrollment, academic, personal and withdrawal information utilizing the PowerSchool program.
Enters and updates records with data regarding current and new students including test scores, attendance, residency and other student demographic information; establishes and maintains automated records and files.
Creates, distributes, collects, processes, and reviews reports and other specialized forms for completeness and accuracy.
Research and compile student information for input as needed.
Composes and types a variety of forms, lists, etc.
Maintains district inventory and completes all purchases in compliance with department of education and agency standards.
Manages district GED data in cooperation with the GED Coordinator and Testing Center.
Serves as liaison between the educational services, and transitional and community partners; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
Additional Requirements
Knowledge of the principles and theories of student development and educational administration.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the area of employment.
Ability to exercise judgment and discretion; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Highly organized and ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups and individuals within DJJ and externally.
This position reports to the Superintendent. Will receive annually scheduled Performance Evaluations.
Employee must be able to work independently within established guidelines and be proactive in responding to district, career and educational customer needs.
Must have ability to work in a high-stress, high-traffic/fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
Moderate lifting of 40 pounds or less, long periods of sitting and working at a computer monitor.
Capable of attending overnight trainings and workshops.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, and control, and transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
