Location/Division Specific Information

This position will be site based in Cranbury, NJ and will support the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG). Reporting to the Director of Operations for the Recombinant Proteins business, this role will be responsible for the day-to-day tactical aspects of our laboratory production operations.

The Senior Manager, Production coordinates manufacturing activities of our Research Use Only, Animal Free and GMP growth factors/cytokines as well as our Antibodies and ELISA Kits. This position is accountable for meeting EHS, quality, production and financial targets, as well as establishing operational objectives to meet short- and long-term business goals.

A Day In The Life

  • Collaborate with multiple work centers to produce our products timely and at high quality to meet customer expectations.
  • Build positive relationships with QA/QC, Product Management, R&D and Planning to ensure flawless daily production schedule attainment and new product introductions.
  • Engage the team by performing the following: lead organizational change; develop and empower staff; nurture relationships; ensure staff are positioned to succeed, meeting their personal career goals also achieving interpersonal goals; build effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; drive engagement and build a climate that motivates staff to do their best.
  • Lead Thermo Fisher's continuous improvement methodology (Practical Process Improvement) and the implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques to deliver on efficiency targets.
  • Build a culture committed to quality, ensuring accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal quality standards, and customer needs..
  • Provide input to develop and standardize workflows, documentation and training.

Keys To Success

Education

  • Bachelor's in a scientific field, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field required.

Experience

  • 5 years' experience in production planning/scheduling, supply chain, and/or manufacturing operations in life science or biotech industry required.
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience leading multiple teams required.
  • Technical and operational knowledge of protein production; including E. Coli fermentation and Cell culture preferred.
  • Knowledge of cGMP and ISO 9001/13485 a plus.

  • Ambitious self-starter with the ability to build and implement plans with minimal direction in an ambiguous and high growth business environment.
  • Strong leadership, people development and organizational change skills to scale our production team to achieve our organic growth objectives.
  • Proficient in continuous improvement methodologies and problem-solving techniques.
  • Requires excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Sophisticated skills in Microsoft Products: PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI.
  • Ability to work in matrix interpersonal structure.
  • Travel: <15% globally.
