Join a dynamic team dedicated to providing advanced professional social work services focused on addressing mental health concerns in children and adolescents. Utilizing a biopsychosocial perspective, you will independently assess, evaluate, implement services, monitor progress, and advocate for patients and their families.
This role is part of Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine, currently offered remotely with occasional in-office requirements for trainings and meetings. Candidates must be located in the Greater Houston/commutable area to work closely with local patient populations and schools.
Preferred Skills
1-3 years of experience as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with expertise in children and adolescent care.
Position Key Accountabilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand social, emotional, environmental, and financial needs of children and adolescents.
Develop treatment plans or refer cases to appropriate professionals, institutions, or agencies to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Gather essential data from patients and families to support educational initiatives, programs, and social services.
Collaborate with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, set patient goals, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes of care plans. Provide individual and group counseling as needed.
Prepare detailed reports and may record sessions for review with colleagues or supervisors.
Collaborate with religious, social, and welfare agencies to support patient treatment. Engage with social work staff and psychiatric residents as part of interdisciplinary efforts.
Educate community and healthcare providers on available resources and the impact of psychosocial factors on patient care.
Utilize crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and mediation techniques to address patient and family concerns effectively.
Respond promptly to emergency situations as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills
Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW) licensure by the Texas Board of Social Work required.
Master Social Worker (LMSW) licensure preferred.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.
Master's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
Minimum Experience
Minimum one year of social work experience required. Medical social work experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
