General Position Summary
The Corrections Deputy maintains security, manages and supervises inmates in the Klamath County Jail, and other duties as assigned.
The Patrol Deputy enforces and prevents violations of state and local traffic, criminal and civil laws and ordinances in order to protect life and property and provide safety to the community served.
Education, Certification, & Experience
Oregon Driver's License
High School Diploma or GED Certificate
21 years of age
Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Basic Certification, which must be obtained within one year after employment. Must possess physical capabilities as demanded by DPSST
First Aid Certificate, required upon DPSST Certification and periodic renewal thereafter
CPR Certification, required upon DPSST certification and periodic renewal thereafter
Ability to be sworn as a Police Officer in accordance with Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 181.610-181.990
Current or recent experience as a Police Officer, Corrections Officer, or Police Reserve Officer is desirable but not required
Salary and Work Schedule
Corrections Deputy - This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $25.87 - $34.64 per hour, depending on experience
Patrol Deputy - This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $26.64 - $35.71 per hour, depending on experience
The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day, 5 days a week, 10.00 hours a day, 4 days per week, or12.00 hours per day, 3-4 days per week. Exact schedules are assigned by management and likely to include weekends and holidays.
