This role is located in Noblesville, IN.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The CNC Operator fully manages the machining tasks and maintenance necessary to produce SMC components and will complete the following tasks for their role
- Set Up: Perform machine change overs to manufacture different components based on daily assignments.
- Prepare: use blueprints to set the machine to the job’s specifications, insert the tooling needed, and gather the necessary materials for the job assignment. This process will be repeated for each of the day’s assignments.
- Operate: supervise the machine while it executes the tasks and make any necessary adjustments or troubles hoot issues to produce a better-finished product in specifications; use measurement tools (ex. Micrometer) to check that the desired result was achieved, perform preventative machine maintenance and keep workstation orderly.
- Maintaining a safe and productive work environment by following safety rules, OSHA, ISO regulations, 5S standards.
Essential Duties
- Adherence to all department work instructions
- Ensure the respective area is compliant with 5S standards
- Process all necessary paperwork associated with established machining standards
- Execute basic to advanced workflow tasks on established SMC systems
- Work from SMC blueprints for standard and modified parts and “X” options
- Conduct basic preventative maintenance on machines
- Basic knowledge of SMC raw material properties
- Basic knowledge of SMC products
- Applies proper feed and speed rates for individual machines and materials
- Work with “Go/No-Go” Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Comparators, or any other inspection tooling.
- Conduct minor editing/modifications to programs for special “X” options
- Quality control of parts to ensure dimensions within tolerances
- Adherence to all safety rules
- Basics knowledge of painting
- Adherence to all QA Management system standards
- Set up and Operate all CNC lathes, mills, drills, and bar-fed machines
- The physical demands of this position require the employee to stand, walk, and use their hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with their hands and arms. The role will also necessitate the employee to lift heavy components as needed; SMC will provide an overhead hoist to assist with this task.
- While the production facility is temperature controlled, the work environment may expose employees to noise, heat, cold, dust, lubricants, and/or solvents.
- Prior CNC machine experience or certification from a CNC training institute
- Experience using a Press Brake machine
- Available to work overtime on weekdays/weekends as needed (multiple schedules are available)
- Basic computer and math skills
- Detail-oriented, ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively
- Tube bending experience (Copper)
- CNC punch machine experience
- Some braising experience
