The Department of Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s has an excellent opportunity for a basic neuroscientist with a focus on pain research for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant or associate professor.
We are seeking candidates to establish a major research program examining the development of pain processing, pharmacology, pathophysiology or other aspects of somatosensation or pain and its treatment across the lifespan. Candidates with expertise in central pain/somatosensory circuits, itch processing, or visceral pain are especially encouraged to apply. Ideally, the candidate will be using cutting-edge technologies that complement the strong basic neuroscience portfolio in Anesthesia and the growing pain research community at Cincinnati Children's and the closely adjacent University of Cincinnati.
Due to the incredible collaborative environment at Cincinnati Children's, the applicant would also have the opportunity to form close working relationships with several other divisions and centers including Allergy and Immunology, Gastroenterology, Developmental Biology, Neurology, Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology, Rheumatology, Surgery, the Pediatric Pain Research Center (PPRC) and Neurosurgery to name a few. Additional information on the more than 40 basic neuroscience labs at Cincinnati Children's and UC can be found on the Neuroscience Research Center site: https://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/research/divisions/c/neuroscience.
