Senior Project Engineer (PE)

Location: Boston, MA (can be REMOTE out of MA)

Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000

Overview:

The Senior Project Engineer (PE) will lead critical, high-visibility projects within the organization. This role demands a demonstrated history of team leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results in line with company standards.
  • Lead, organize, and manage project teams to produce deliverables that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Mentor and develop the technical and design skills of team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Technical Expertise and Innovation:

  • Serve as a technical thought leader, both within the organization and in the industry.
  • Champion innovation by challenging existing processes and pursuing advancements in the field.
  • Share expertise through public speaking engagements, training sessions, and industry collaborations.

Team Support (70%):

  • Support the Vice President or Team Leader in reviewing team progress and identifying areas of improvement.
  • Communicate frequently with leadership, Project Managers, and Engineers to ensure alignment on project goals and milestones.
  • Lead design review and milestone meetings, delegating tasks and coaching team members.
  • Oversee QA/QC processes, ensuring all reports, plans, and specifications meet industry standards and regulations.
  • Independently manage design team schedules, budgets, and staffing, coordinating closely with Project Managers.
  • Implement project delivery processes and coordinate with external disciplines as needed.
  • Document and apply lessons learned to improve team performance.
  • Assess and address the technical skills and weaknesses of team members.

Industry Innovation and Thought Leadership (10%):

  • Research and evaluate new industry developments and their feasibility.
  • Represent McClure at industry events, discussing projects, initiatives, and innovations.
  • Organize training opportunities for the team, both internally and externally.
  • Serve as an expert witness in litigation, providing technical analysis and testimony.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary professionals on complex projects.

Client Support (10%):

  • Participate in client meetings, including project kick-offs, design reviews, and construction progress discussions.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and solutions effectively to clients.
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with clients.

Other Duties (10%):

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the organization’s goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor with all team members.
  • Strong understanding of engineering systems, construction techniques, and industry standards.
  • Ability to manage workload and priorities effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of professional liability, quality procedures, and engineering/technical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
