Role

Role Overview

As Senior Design Manager you will be responsible for working directly with the client, consultants, and other team members to deliver projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will balance design and technical solutions to meet project budget and schedule expectations. You must possess keen time management and awareness of how each decision impacts the project budget and schedule. All work will be conducted within KTGY standards under general supervision. Key Job Functions

  • Lead projects and teams, across multiple multi-family projects.
  • Ensure that the project conforms to the contractual agreement the firm has made with the client and in accordance with company quality requirements.
  • Understand the client program requirements, including deliverables.
  • Present design and technical solutions directly to the client.
  • Manage and oversee the processes of projects, medium and large-scale.
  • Establish regular client meetings and attend with appropriate team and consultants as required by contract scope.
  • Ensure projects conform to standard of care and quality.
  • Review contract drawings and specifications for completeness, accuracy, and coordination. Confirm that corrections and clarifications are made, if required.
  • Ensure that the project conforms to the allocated schedule and within the budget it has been assigned.
  • Control project profitability and liability exposure on behalf of KTGY by creating and maintaining fee erosion plans.
  • Review and sign off on Deltek Project timesheets of staff when assigned.
  • Provide staffing hours, reviews and approves with Associate Principal each week prior to staffing meetings.
  • Direct, lead, and mentor staff to ensure professional development.
  • Ensure staff is effectively & efficiently utilizing time.
  • Participate in writing new business proposals. Create additional service directives and sign additional services with approval of studio leadership.
  • Review project billings and update studio projections regularly.
  • Create and monitor project schedules.
  • Review project billings and update studio projections regularly.
  • Participate in monthly billing meetings and update billing in EI program when assigned.
  • Monitor project receivables and assist in the collection of receivables.
  • Leads CA and keeps Associate Principal/Principal informed on potential design issues/conflicts.
  • Identifies development of key design elements for periodic review with Associate Principal or Principals.
  • If project expands past the identified scope, timeframe, and budget to identify Add Services and write Add Services.
  • Participate in annual and monthly reviews for employees as assigned.
  • Act as supervisor when required to sign off on employee’s timecards, requests for time off, and act as advocate when necessary for HR related issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Accurate and detail oriented
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain effective communication and quality control
  • Strong ability to plan, schedule, direct work of self and others
  • Advanced proficiency using the following software:
    • AutoCAD and/ or REVIT
    • Sketch Up
    • Adobe Suite
    • MS Office
    • Spec Sources
Required Education and Experience

  • 4-year Interior Design or Architectural degree and/or combination of required education and experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of industry experience
  • Multi-family residential interior design experience
  • Licensed Interior Designer or Architect (Preferred)
  • Advanced understanding of interior codes, including national and state local codes as well as codes/technical requirements for FFE.
  • In depth knowledge of various product types, code requirements, and construction practices and how to apply, detail, and specify them

The wage range that the Company expects to pay is $100,000 - $120,000.
