Job Description

We are currently seeking a passionate Senior Furniture Designer who exhibits a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive understanding of color development, manufacturing processes, and current and leading-edge materials. The Senior Furniture Designer position reports to the Senior Manager, Design-Bath, under whose guidance you will develop exceptional furniture bath concepts along with market growth and trend strategies. You must be able to translate global and local trends into manufacturable bath furniture solutions while working collaboratively with internal and external groups to deliver on market objectives. This is a hybrid position which will require working in the Weslaco, TX office at least 2 days per week.

Your Role

Develops innovative and functional bath furniture designs that align with market growth strategies and development targets.

Researches and stays up to date on current trends, materials, and manufacturing processes; adapts these to new product concepts and communicate trend themes to key stakeholders.

Creates detailed sketches and technical drawings of design concepts using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Demonstrates excellent rendering capabilities to create computer generated imagery (CGI) for internal and external presentations.

Develops, maintains, and manages a library of three-dimensional materials for the design team.

Develops new stains and paints as well as matching materials for furniture production.

Establishes strong relationships with external vendors.

Works closely with New Production Introduction and Sourcing team members to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing and will consistently meet quality standards.

Collaborates with global teams to translate design concepts and adapt to different manufacturing environments.

Participates in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and client meetings to gather feedback and refine designs as needed.

Maintains accurate records of design concepts, revisions, and project timelines.

Contributes to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies within the company.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Interior Design, or a related field.

5-years’ experience in furniture design and/or manufacturing.

Strong sketching and conceptualization skills; A strong portfolio showcasing previous furniture design projects and creative problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards related to wood design and/or furniture design.

Experience with color matching and finishing development.

Experience translating designs to domestic and global manufacturing facilities.

Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, Rhino or similar.

Mastery in three-dimensional rendering software such as Vray, KeyShot or similar.

Curiosity and a passion for design, innovation, and sustainability.

Ability to listen, gain alignment, and communicate effectively with team, customers, and key stakeholders.

Ability to prepare, plan, and execute to strategic objectives; Able to think creatively and push teams to innovation.

Demonstrated adaptability and resilience when facing obstacles. Clearly takes ownership and accountability for decisions and outcomes.

Ability to travel, approximately 10% of time, to meet with vendors and customers (domestic & international)

Physical Requirements

The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes typing, clicking, and writing. Frequently positions self to maintain information in drawers and shelving. Must be able to exchange accurate information and have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Ability to read documents, emails, and computer screens, as well as see details on printed materials and presentations. Consistently works in an indoor setting. While traveling, the individual in this position needs to occasionally move about on the plant floor when going on customer visits and engage face to face with vendors and customers. Occasionally moves items weighing up to fifteen pounds across plant floor for various needs.

Work Environment

This is primarily an office position with the ability to occasionally work remotely. The ideal candidate must be capable of working efficiently and independently from their office or remote location to fulfill assigned tasks and meet deadlines. When working remotely, the candidate will need internet connectivity capable of supporting virtual communication tools that allow for collaboration with team members, attendance of meetings, and participation in company activities. The ideal candidate will be required to set up and maintain a suitable home office environment conducive to productivity. This includes having a dedicated workspace with a comfortable chair, desk, and adequate lighting. The candidate is expected to travel 10% of their time to support customers, complete site visits, handle special projects, etc. This travel will require overnight stays and may be multiple days in duration.
