DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for providing programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skills training, emergency preparedness, hazardous material and disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment.
  • Develop a systematic process to collect data and analyze the cause of accidents and generate reporting.
  • Implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
  • Develop and implement standards relating to guest and employee safety to comply with federal, state, and local codes.
  • Conducts and evaluates training on meeting established guidelines, codes and procedures on fire and occupational health issues.
  • Supervises and monitors the inspection and documentation of buildings, rides and departments to comply with established standards.
  • Assists, plans, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Advises Property Manager on safety compliance concerns and corrective actions.
  • Plans and implements training for employees in worksite safety practices.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conducts post-accident investigations and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards.
  • Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
  • Maintains environmental and safety reports.
  • Subject to 24/7 on-call assignment as deemed necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Management, Public Health and or Environmental Sciences required. Master’s Degree in safety or health related field preferred.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience directing all or portion of health and safety function locally or regionally within a large organization.
  • Requires a current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Five (5) years with developing strategic plans and managed budgets.
  • Experience with reading, analyzing, and interpreting government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Experienced in providing technical input and direction on safety elements of risk assessment and reduction.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist for an extended period as well as climb, lift and hold objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
