The job of Roofer/Carpenter shall be capable of roof or gutter inspection to identify potential repairs and provide an ongoing program of preventative maintenance. The work requires basic knowledge of Building Codes and warranty compliance.
Essential Job Functions
Perform periodic inspections and report on the roofs of all BCSC buildings
Must be able to work alone or as a team
Must also be able to participate in snow removal
Must be available to respond to calls for service when the occasion arises, to include weekends or holidays
Ability to detect and locate defective workmanship and materials and identify the stage of construction when defects are most easily found and remedied
Responsibility to direct, drive BCSC and non BCSC individuals to achieve the assigned goal
Considerable knowledge of laws and building codes governing construction and more specifically roofing
Ability to make decisions recognizing established procedures and practices and to use resourcefulness when meeting new problems
Must be willing to be available to assist other divisions as requested by supervisor

Maintain a forklift and scissor lift operator’s license

Physical And Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Requires extensive lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and occasional stooping, kneeling, climbing, crawling and crouching.
10% sitting, 60% walking/lifting 30% standing. Job is performed under sever temperature variations.
