Description

Involves the provision of integrated and accessible primary and specialty patient careservices in a clinic or center environment. Care is provided by clinicians and assistants who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs and developing a sustainable partnership with patients. Ensures optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in healthcare clinics or centers.

Promotes shared decision-making at all levels to ensure a shared voice in practices, exchange of ideas, enhanced communication, and continually improved patient services. Management levels may also be responsible for clinic operations. (Note, when primary focus is clinical operations, see Ambulatory Administration job function.)

Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Supervises staff involved in providing interdisciplinary clinical / nursing care at a clinic and / or center, such as RDA, RDH, RNs, LVNs, etc. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in assigned clinic(s) and serves as a role model. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises and facilitates the flow of patient care activities and coordination of the interdisciplinary clinical staff for assigned clinics / centers. Assures quality care and compliance with internal policy, external regulations and accepted practices across the continuum of care. May also supervise the fiscal and administrative operations.
  • Supervises the quality of employees meeting patient service standards and coordinates the clinic patient care services, resolves system issues, advises on work methods, manages scheduling based on patient census, and ensures compliance with internal procedures and external regulations. Mentors staff to communicate with patients regarding their conditions, treatments, and concerns.
  • Evaluates subordinate staff and participates in decision-making on hiring, salary actions, disciplinary actions, performance ratings, and other human resources matters. Evaluates the competencies of clinical staff, according to scope of practice for the position.
  • Assures completion of orientation and training of all patient care staff. Identifies and implements department specific educational opportunities for staff in collaboration with ambulatory administration. * Assure work is performed in adherence to patient service standards, internal policies, external regulations, and quality / quantity expectations.
  • Serves as a resource to clinic staff / Directors on patient care issues, new policies, and technology.
  • Keeps staff informed of changes and resolves escalated issues. Recommends internal policies and procedures for quality improvement within the practice(s). May serves as a resource to staff for instructing patients on chronic diseases and self-care management, and with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and treatments.
  • Participates in the performance of routine audits, accreditation, and licensing inspection readiness activities. Monitors services provided by support departments and collaborates to improve utilization and efficiency.
  • Promotes a climate of effective teamwork, communication, and collaboration. Communicates regularly with management on practice activities and on pertinent operational or human resources issues.
  • Encourages and assists staff in meeting professional goals using standard practice evaluation tools to identify areas for growth. Consults with clinical leaders and educators on developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies for performance improvement.
  • Monitors and ensures that fiscal and material resources are managed according to budgetary parameters across assigned clinic(s) or center(s). Understands unit financial goals and educates staff of cost-containment strategies. Maintains unit expenses within budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • Five (5) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor���s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.
  • Prior experience with a procedure clinic offering moderate sedation.
  • Experience and proven success in skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a clinic(s) / center(s).
  • Strong knowledge of practice operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an AAAHC accredited clinic.
  • Surgery Center experience.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $112,100 - $216,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $53.69 - $103.69

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
