We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Reservoir Engineer in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Rockies Business Unit on the DJ Development team based in Denver, CO.

Primary Roles And Responsibilities

  • Development Program: Work with multi-disciplinary team to assist in generating and recommending plans of development, evaluate and recommend new well locations, post-appraise performance, and generate type curves for predicting future performance.
  • Scenario Analysis: Develop economic models that capture key issues for use in decisions regarding development options. These models will include deterministic and probabilistic techniques to address the specific development issue (spacing, target interval, completion design, etc.)
  • Budget and Planning : Assist in managing various budget and planning exercises (annual budget, portfolio and long-range plans, SEC reserve forecasts, business plans, etc.). Support additional corporate planning and business development needs as necessary. Write technical AFE papers for approval of the drilling capital program for the assigned area.
  • Reservoir Modelling: Work with Reservoir Characterization to integrate various reservoir studies including geo-modelling, reservoir modelling, geochemistry, PVT, petrophysics, production performance, pressure transient tests, and other data in planning future development. Recommend special data requirement and evaluation techniques.
  • Technical Presentations: Prepare technical presentations and documents for delivery to asset team, management, partners, and regulatory agencies. Presentations will include drilling recommendations, lease sale analyses, trade/acquisition evaluations, post-appraisal, and development plans.
  • Surveillance and Optimization : Monitor production volumes on wells within an assigned geographic area utilizing various techniques for tracking production performance. Work closely with the production engineering staff to optimize performance. Conduct team based well reviews to identify production enhancement opportunities; document opportunities, implement recommendations, and post audit results.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years relevant engineering experience required with solid technical engineering foundation in the Reservoir Engineering discipline.
  • Teamwork: Candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with field operations, technical peers and management. Positive attitude focused on team success.
  • Data Analysis: Must also have the ability to perform statistical studies and analyze analog data to support scoping field development evaluations. Working knowledge of Spotfire or Power BI is a plus.
  • Critical Thinking: Question the status quo to enhance inventory and creatively solve challenging problems. Always be seeking continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Project Management: Ability to progress multiple projects simultaneously to deliver timely decision recommendations in a complex environment. Action oriented with skill in leading teams toward goals.
  • Economics: Working knowledge of Aries, Mosiac, Enersight and/or PEEP to perform economic analysis and production forecasting.
  • Multidisciplinary: Strong understanding of disciplines outside of engineering such as Mineral Land, Surface Land, Regulatory, Geology, Production, Drilling, and Completions

Desired Qualifications

DJ Basin: Familiarity with Colorado regulatory environment and ECMC permitting requirements specifically in the DJ Basin

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required, with Petroleum Engineering being preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.

The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-10%.

$136,800 - $188,100
