Our services range from major research studies and management consulting solutions to online databases and simple fact-finding assignments. Our clients include food manufacturers and distributors, restaurants and retailers, other foodservice organizations, and various institutions aligned with the food industry.
Job Description
The Research Analyst will work directly on syndicated research projects pertaining to foodservice, with a particular emphasis on menu research and analysis, including pricing data. This position will also have a focus on data analysis and visualization, with the Research Analyst (RA) comfortable with drawing conclusions and providing insights based on data. This means staying in the know of important foodservice data trends and shifts, contributing to maintaining quality data and reporting and creating syndicated program deliverables.
The candidate must demonstrate strong data analysis, writing and project management skills, demonstrate aptitude for strategic thinking and problem solving, and be able to work independently.
Hybrid position out of the Chicago office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Responsibilities:
Gather, pull and analyze pricing and menu data tables to effectively identify and illustrate key foodservice industry trends
Create content deliverables that includes data analysis, key insights and recommended actions for foodservice manufacturers, operators and more
Visualize quantitative research findings
Draft reports (PowerPoint presentations, white papers, infographics) from both primary and secondary research and data sources
Adhere to timelines and assist with other initiatives as needed
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Technomic tools and research methodologies
Understand foodservice industry as a whole and stay up to date on relevant industry trends
Potential to create and present both in-person and virtual presentations
Ideal candidate would possess an equal balance of analytical skill and creativity (PowerPoint design, storytelling, resourcefulness).
Qualifications
The RA should have the following characteristics:
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and work on several projects at one time
Stellar communication (written and verbal) skills, with a strong writing background
Strong storytelling skills, especially in converting data trends into actionable insights
Dependable, highly motivated, collaborative and team-oriented with a strong sense of business acumen
Competency with Microsoft Office tool and ability to learn additional technology platforms as needed
Advanced level using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; PowerPivot experience a plus
Exhibit qualities that demonstrate professionalism and the desire to excel within the position
Demonstrates extreme attention to detail and adherence to quality control process and consistently delivers quality, error-free work
Shows aptitude to think strategically and problem solve to meet objectives. Ultimately being able to use research methods and how to approach data from different angles to meet objectives
Previous presentation and public speaking experience is not required, but should be open to learning and developing in this area
Demonstrates interest in the foodservice industry and is able to apply their current industry knowledge and grow new industry competencies. Prior experience or knowledge in the foodservice industry is preferred
Requirements:
This role is a hybrid position and requires being in office Tuesday and Thursdays out of the Chicago office.
Bachelor’s degree in market research, marketing, business, statistics, data science, communications, social sciences or related field
1-3 years prior experience
Extensive working knowledge of the Microsoft suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables
Open to presenting and public speaking opportunities
Interest in foodservice industry is preferred
