Job Description
You will be focused on helping readers better understand Southern California, which has 23 million residents and outsized political and cultural influence across the world.
Responsibilities
You will deliver newsy stories that help readers better understand the region.
You will develop sources locally to land exclusive stories and to establish beat authority.
You will demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
You will report to the California Editor on the National Desk.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years’ experience at a journalism or media company or other relevant organization
Writing skills that demonstrate mastery of journalistic style and standards, including ethical and superb news judgments
A portfolio that includes news, enterprise and analysis
Spanish language fluency
Preferred Qualifications
Experience promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Deep interest in Southern California

The annual base pay salary for this role is between $111,049.64 and $140,000.00.
